This issue has happened a few times recently.

I'm in my King Crab and my RT gets taken off and I find myself completely without weapons. I have a GR in each arm w/ 2 tons of ammo each. I KNOW for a fact I still had 2/3 my ammo left and my CT/LT/LA armor is in tact. I don't see how losing a single RT makes me lose all my GR ammo. Thoughts or speculation? I know the GR is a fragile weapon, but my armor is intact and this has happened a lot in the last week. In fact, it's happened more times in the last week than it has in the 8+ weeks I've been running this build.

Go to the loadout screen and show us where the ammo is loaded.

If it's not loaded a certain way, you can lose the component with ammo. Always put a ton in the head, as it's used last.

CT<RT<LT<LA/RA<RL/LL<Head is ammo consumption.

Ammo is used from the left side first, so you are probably using up the ammo on the left side, and then when you lose the ammo in your right side (from it being destroyed) you have none left.

Yep, ammo is consumed in a specific order, placement wise.

GR ammo is non explosive, you could put it in CT if you wanted.

Well damnit, I never knew that! Thanks for the info guys, I will rework my loadout to make sure I have a reserve in my dome. I never knew it went in that order.

CT<RT<LT<LA/RA<RL/LL<Head is ammo consumption.

Put ammo in legs. Last place to go.

I don't know. Half of CW is shooting legs, and people ALWAYS skimp out on armor with the legs when they need to shave armor off the mech.

If you lose both legs you're dead anyway. They can not shave leg armor if it's an issue. Never got legged much in CW but I like hugging cover.

Pro-tip for the crazy ******** : if you´ve got some tonnage to spare, crit-pad with half-tons of GR ammo ^^

You mean spare slots. When using half tons to crit pad, it's the slots that become the problem.

Try putting the Gauss ammo in the following locations:

1) Arms to crit-shield your Gausses
2) Head and legs to reduce chance of ammo destruction

Ammo is used in a specific order from the different locations on your chassis. It sounds to me as though you are using up the ammo in one torso, and then having the remaining ammo destroyed. Moving your storage location is your best bet to solve this problem.

I don't recall where it's at, but there is a post somewhere on the forum that provides a detailed explanation of ammo feeding. It might be under Guides and Strategies.

Put 1/2 ton ammo packs into the arms to critpad the gauss. Put the rest into different locations (1/2t packs if you need to critpad something else too, otherwise just 1t packs CT or head). That way you won't lose too much ammo if your arm gets blown up.

Gauss rifle ammo doesn't explode so it's safe to put it in head/CT.

always thought it idiotic that the weapon doesn't use the ammo in the same location as it first, then draw from the next closest and next closest, etc. Tougher to initially program, but once a dynamic path is set and assigned to each weapon/location would be a lot more sensible.

You could shave armor on the arms of a King Crab. No one ever shoots those.

Also in my KCG I lost my left torso but still could use my left arm last week. That was interesting.
