Naw it's all good. Yeah, finances didn't work out for this pack. IRL, can't always get all the toys we want. Is what it is. Part of it comes down to just not being able to mentally justify a la cartes price, but also having no desire (or the money, ATM) to actually buy the full pack, of which I expect I MIGHT like 2 of the mechs.

Chill man, it was obviously a joke from the start, people not getting that is, to me, even more amusing than the joke itself. Like your own thread that was a joke and people totally missed the joke, their responses were funnier than the joke itself.

Bishop, like myself, were vocal about allowing the Phoenix package to be reopened for sales, neither of us see any point in restricting non-Founders toys from anyone else who's come to the party late, and that makes this joke obvious.

And I wasn't referring to YOU Soy in missing the joke, I know you got it, the hipster reference I directly replied to showed that, the Foghorn bit was to get OTHERS to realize what was going on, as it became obvious some people thought this was a real suggestion. Gods forbid some moron actually tries to GET this joke idea passed.

n still I think that giving a "reward" (or acknowledgment, PGI did make money right?) to 1 player might not ruin PGI

hell who knows

next thing we know PGI will start a map contest and the winner(s) gets payed for in digital goods and not real $

hell Scout Derek could have been given a custom Title for being a nice guy

its cool and everything, it really is, in fact i think if theres ever been a pack to buy and support it's the urbie one, cuz the value of it was solid since prem time and mech bays etc........ its just that lately people been pushing a lot of ideas of how to paywall content or talking about exclusivity. people are very hesitant lately, look at all the talk about wave 3 is it **** is it not wheres the value how do we hedge about stuff we dont really know is good or not etc

i mean the reality is that anyone who wants an exclusive mech should whale **** themselves into impulsively buying a regretable goldmech, period

i like the idea of special unique mechs, but within reason. like someone wins a tourny they get a special variant maybe or special camo. or if you make it to top rank of a faction maybe you unlock an extra variant to purchase and grind up.

the mech itself is a joke, but not a bad one, and everyone should pilot one it if they want to have a laugh. i would've thought it would be cbills by now, if it wasn't and i was waiting for cbill release i'd be extremely salty by this point.

It's all cool Soy, and I too am wondering why the Urby isn't out for cbills yet.

As to exclusive content, we've got little of that in MWO and I think it should stay that way, (F) should really be the ONLY exclusives currently, I think.

But you're onto something there I think with the reward idea, PGI could definitely get more people interested in events if the rewards including exclusive Mech variants that could never be obtained except as an event reward.

Other games have done that, monthly sub MMOs and F2P games alike, special rewards that can only be obtained as an event reward, no other way to get them, and those events are usually an annual thing, so people get another shot at the brass ring if they missed it last time.

It doesn't really matter, we crossed the pay to win/pay for exclusive functionality (they really are the same thing) line a looong time ago with hero mechs. As long as nothing particularly good is only available for real money leaving some mechs as pay only doesn't really make things any worse.

Nobody's going to say "I am totally OK with hero mechs being pay-only but not OK with a bad chassis being pay only". I'd imagine pretty much everybody would put both things into the same group.

There's a big difference between a chassis and a variant. It's what separates a brawling, Autocannon totting HBK-4G from a long range support HBK-4J

Seriously, in my last match I baited a dire wolf way out of position so he was useless to his team, got two enemies killed from behind and pulled a heavy along for the ride. Then I circled around and finished off that same Dire Wolf *AND* a King Crab from behind with 3 ER small lasers (lost my left arm and had no UAC20 ammo left because I had killed a hunchback and two ebon jaguars prior to that engagement). Pretty sure they would have just let an urbie keep on going.

It's honestly a terrible mech. I'd seriously consider keeping a Mist Lynx over the Urbanmech if I ever had to choose one or the other.

Not sure if that means it should be cash only or not, but whatever. I don't particularly care one way or the other (just like I didn't care with the Phoenix pack and even voted 'yes' to bringing it back).
