Whats really disturbing isnt the glitch with lampposts itself but that it passed through QC. How could that slip through playtesting?

Has anyone at PGI ever said why they went for CryEngine as opposed to UnrealEngine?

Price could have been a factor but as far as I know there never has been an official statement regarding engine choice. Would be interesting to know though, the "MW5" sequence based on UE didnt look bad at all.

The look of CE feels a lot different to UE so perhaps they felt it would be the better, albeit more ambitious, choice for a MW game.

My own personal take on it (could be wildly wrong) is that PGI's original ambitions for the game suited CE and perhaps maybe a little emphasis on trying to be different, experimental and brave. However with the game how it is and how it will eventually end up, I wonder if UE might have been the better choice.

But like you said there's also licensing. CryTek bit the dust so I'm not sure what the deal is with CE whereas Epic still seem to be going strong.

It seems to me like there were at least a couple of options they could have gone with but they went with CE for some reason.

Anything that results in the current river of **** being removed from the map rotation is fine with me.

They went with the CryEngine because of the great price they got, that simple.
