Actually, if you get the JM6-DD (JagerMech with XL Engine), you can swap the 4 ACs by 2 Gauss +5 tons of ammo (and keeping the 2 Medium Lasers).

Indeed, in TT the AC/2 is useless. BUT in videogames that's easily fixed by increasing the rate of fire.
