It baffles me why some people seem so terrified of an easily avoided weapon system with spread damage when you can peep out from cover and catch a massive pinpoint alpha to the face at any time.

It baffles me why people keep trotting this point out, over and over again.

Then there's the Firestarters and Huginns running around handing locks to their fellow teammates and popping UAVs.

How do you manage to take down UAVs with an SRM-equipped Huginn?

Well it cause the truth needs to be read again and again before some will understand the simplicity of the message.

Maybe if people stopped trotting out the same "LRMS OP SAVE ME" crap......

... OR maybe PGI is using this to gather data for weapon and chassis tuning?

Personally, I've always had the suspicion that PGI does these events these for 2 reasons:

1. To provide some fun for the players, to keep things fresh, and
2. So they can gather data and metrics for tuning gameplay

Perhaps they want it set up this way just so they can gather data on LRMs? No, it doesn't make it less of a weekend from LRM hell perhaps, but maybe in the long run...

Just sayin'.

My hero hunting mechs are ready in all weight classes! (No LRMs, just many tons of gauss :P ... except for lights of course.)

They are putting them up, not taking them down.

I will be in my Golden Boy, and yes I regularly play my Kintaros. I have 119 hours and 27 min of cockpit time in my Golden Boy. 1100 drops in it. So I will not be taking it because I think it will "git me EZ mode killz, hur, hur" I will be taking it because I love this mech and I love piloting it. And know what? I WILL be killing a lot of people in it.

Still better than all the splat-Oxides that were running around wrecking face in the previous event... I'm still somewhat traumatized over those little buggers obliterating heavies and assaults left and right. No offense to their pilots, especially you Not-Oxide :P

(seriously though, they're frightening in good hands even with that huge Jenner CT - the littlest splatmachine!)

I'm more worried about SRM-spam Huginn and Misery 40 wolfpacks, though, but I admit, that Golden Boy will be a major annoyance throughout the event. I'll be here in my Radar Deprivation-equipped Wubverine burning their legs off and cooking them with their own ammo, then

EDIT: More on-topic, I'm not kidding about that, though - only the Golden Boy has any right to be considered 'frightening' to me (more like annoying as hell really), and I'm not that concerned about LRM spam anymore, what with its numerous hard counters.

Speaking of which, they had better find a way to make LRMs actually viable...

I hope I was not to blame that you got Oxidized  *tease*

However, I think Huggins are far more annoying - an Oxide is more of a harasser - a kind of run-by-shooter. A Huginn is different, more like a brawler or a pitbull. He bites until one of the two is dead.

Well, I still think the LRM mechanic as well as the ECM mechanic are really badly implemented and annoying to the point where I consider them not really fun.

In some matches it is hard to even do anything else but play whack-a-mole because as soon as you go out of cover you read "missiles incoming".

I wrote Russ on Twitter (last week or so) how his and PGI's stance on ECM and LRMs are. The message vanished pretty quickly...

@ El Bandito- For science!

I have a 1.37 W/L ratio, a 1.63 K/D ratio, 394,309 damage in it, and 1,052,308 XP. You have the other stats above. While not a great K/D ratio, the W/L ratio is actually the one I pay attention to. This is a team based game and I actually never care if a get a kill or not. I care if my team WINS. I feel at the W/L ratio I am at combined with the amount of time I have spent piloting it (that's a lot of time, the statistics are sound) indicates I am not a detriment to my team, but in fact enhance my team.

The best match I have had in it was match score 163, 6 kills, 1100 damage, I had spent all my missiles (I carry 2,000 rounds), and solo killed 3v1 the last three mechs with my mighty triple med lasers. All the while I had a dead guy screaming in chat what a terribad I was for even using lrms.

My GB moves at 90 kph, lrm5x5, BAP, triple med las, 1980 rounds of ammo, advanced radar dep, advanced targeting, lrm5 cool down, lrm5 range.

Edit- added my loadout

I plan on running my BJ-arrow, and will switch out to 3 m pulse lasers and 6 mgs with AMS and radar derp if need be. Other mechs I can bring for this one is the ember, 2 flamers, 2 small pulse, and 4 mgs, I will blind them all! Or I can bring my Firebrand with some Ams and radar derp goodness too! Bring it on LRM boats!

Broken LRMs. Broken Kintaros. This LRM\Kintaro\Orion meta is getting old.

Lasers and gauss need a buff to keep up with these noob auto-aim weapons.

Kintaros need agiliy nerfs to make up for their OP lrm vomit.

Im so sick of getting owned by meta Orions with ERPPCs and LRM10s

Uhhhhhhhhhh..... A bunch of the mechs normally played in public queue can be lrm boats anyway. Your pessimism is laughable.

Grid Iron LRM boat? hahahahahaha. Yeah, good luck. Huggin can be a "LRM boat" too

Honestly GI LRM boat?

I have yet to see that....it does a much better job as a Gauss Machine Gun.

And the Kintaro hero does a good job as a Streak boat as well, IMO does a better job with that then LRMs.

So people are gonna cry about the ember and huggin, while the LDG and GB can be loaded out as light hunters?

Ok.
