I've had monstrous games in a Mist Lynx. Doesn't mean it isn't a piece of crap.

Send me a PM when the EXE sees use in the dropdecks for competitive league play, and then I might reconsider. Until then it will remain the horribly mismatched, low-armed, Ritalin-addled niche mech that has no use in higher levels of play where the DWF at 5t heavier will always be the better option.

Are you salty because a mech we knew would not replace the Dire Wolf didn't replace the Dire Wolf?

Exe is DOA its that simple.

Max armour and masc and jump jets it's got less pods space than a gargoyle and we know how everyone loves the gargoyle now.

Huge CT, low slung arms, same gargoyle issues.

MASC didn't save the EXE is dead already, period.

Edit : Thought since it's got less pod space than an gargoyle, why would i use an EXE over a gargoyle as the gargoyle runs faster than a EXE does even when it's uses MASC

go figure

*just looks at him*

Honestly its a pretty good mech. Good over all hit boxes. MASC to help move in and out of cover. Mobility from jump jets etc. For solo and group play it works really well.

FTFW.

You can insert basically every other assault mech and the sentence doesn't need to change, if your only measuring stick is "DWF or bust" then you will forever be disappointed or eventually the DWF will get nerfed very, very hard.

You take your pick.

The topic was not weather or not the SEXE would out power creep the DWF, that fact that you think each mech that will come out has to be better then the next is very funny. NO one here is disputing that the DWF for what it DOES is much better....but i dont fear DWF more then EXE's especially if i am in close range with it and i have a fast mech...DWF dont stand a chance if i can outmaneuver them...

And since when did anyone say anything about league play? or Comp stuff? You are putting words in everyone s mouth with those statements. Power creep DID NOT de throne the DWF....who would have thought.
I knew when the Wave three page went up this would not be a better DWF....i think everyone did.

But i digress, The topic was about the EXE being a gorilla which it is....but its like a Silverback on Speed with a jet pack.

My reply wasn't really directed at your original topic, but rather what other people have said and continue to say about the EXE. I should have quoted the parts I was replying to, so sorry for the confusion.

I'm not even talking about power creep either. The EXE is a complete liability in higher Elo play. No, it doesn't have to compare to the effectiveness of the DWF (and it shouldn't), but it's completely overshadowed by other Clan and IS mechs.

It's mainly how low the hardpoints are on the arms, where the majority of your firepower lies. Hardpoint location is a much bigger issue when playing against better players, because you don't get the luxury of using those low mounted arm weapons without getting severely wrecked in the process.

MASC was not there for a faster top speed, its not meant for that.

But to go from 0-80 in like .03 seconds in a fatty is well worth it, not to mention i can out manuver most lights in this thing when they try to circle me up or get behind me and get my back.

This. Omg. I dare a huggin to try to get my back. My favorite build ATM is 6mpl 2srm6. Runs a little hot. But I can out manouver any other assault and deliver that 72 point alpha twice from the angle i want while you're still twisting.

See this -> . thats a point and this guy has one

speaking of which... this video i recorded yesterday night, MASC is awesome, you can pick up speed after a jump jet jump, and then let off of it to return, all in a matter of one to two seconds. Also saved my ass when i was chasing a Arrow :o, entire team waiting, turned away and MASC GOGOGOGOGOGO, I actually yelled "SHIEEEEEEEEETTTTT" and somehow got hit in the back(!?). Got to 4:26 to see overall playout of me removing a mad dogs left torso then center, using MASC to get out fast then back in.

Upon closer inspection someone shot me in the back -__-

And sorry for the music, left it on while recording but hey, Blinded by the light goes good with Clam Medium Lasers and a LBX 20, right?

its gud, team is always 1m away from you. but very often nobody cares about EXEs, and they get decimated by lights fast.

The EXE (especially with the D torsos) is just about as much fun as I have had in an assault mech for a long time (since clans dropped, probably).

The thing is great for spinning around getting into a mess and then getting right back out of it.

Sadly for you the Executioner is listed on metamechs in the mid range competitive tier, so your logic just went flying out the window: http://metamechs.com...ists/comp-list/

One man's opinion.

Once again, send me a PM when the EXE sees actual use in the dropdecks for competitive league play. Might be awhile because it isn't out for CBills, but I have a hard time believing that any remotely competent comp teams would take an EXE when the DWF is only 5t heavier.

All those who are excited about masc use it for acceleration.

And your acceleration is still slower than the gargoyle while using MASC and the gargoyle still doesn't get screen shake

Though I don't exactly disagree with your assessment there are some problems here. First, the Gargoyle has less tonnage for weapons and equipment than the Executioner, about 5 - 6 tons less. Second, MASC's big impact is on acceleration, not top speed.

I don't have the acceleration stats for both mechs, but I'm sure they can be found. Using those it would not be too difficult to calculate which mech can step out, fire, and return to cover faster, since they both have similar weapon placement and thus similar peeking habits. Based solely on my experience with these mechs, I feel a MASC using Executioner is slightly faster at this manuever.

yeah i was wrong exe get 5 tonnes more, but acceleration is still slower than the gargoyles. An the MASC creates screen shake so the Gargoyle can get its snap shot off faster.

Math was a while ago for you, wasn't it :P

Wow, yeah, that you managed to pummel a mech outside of its element clearly says the mech sucks. I know King Crabs are the worst mech ever, because I killed one at 800 meters with LRMS. >>

The Executioner is AMAZING at what it does. And what it does is pop out, dump firepower into you, and scurry back around a corner. It doesn't hill hug well, it building hugs. (it DOES hill hug well on the right kind of hill, and from the right spot on the hill, but that would require greater explaination than I feel like doing from my phone :P)

The Koala is a magnificent machine. It has its drawbacks, but all mechs do. IMO, its pros greatly outweigh its cons. Even on matches where my team gets stomped, I can pull 600 damage pretty consistently with my Koala Prime. Which has a Gauss and 2 ERPPCs. My other builds don't work quite so well, but I'm still tinkering.

It does jump noticeably better than my Heavy Metal with 5 jjs. It's still not very good, but they are actually useful. And, it's jump DISTANCE with MASC is stupendous. Which... Isn't helpful most of the time, but I've put that to great use on Viridian Bog. You can JUST jump between the two main hills everyone fights on. I've hopped over there, and gotten the drop on sniper mechs several times with hilariously good results.

The mech isn't broken, it just requires a certain playstyle. I would go so far as to say it doesn't need ANY quirks, except a right arm armor buff since it has a shield equipped. It doesn't NEED that one, but all mechs with shiekds get one in MWO :P Fixing Jump Jets would make me question which I like better, King Crab, or Koala :P

I'd be willing to bet I could win a one on one fight against any other mech two out of three times in my Koala.

Sorry i got the symbol backwards, yeah been 20 years since uni last.

the jump jets thing could be a saving grace i can't talk from experience on that one so i'll defer to your opinion if u say it's that good.

As for the sarcasm, about outside of it's element well that was 1 example of a day of nothing but mauling EXE, every time i see that thing i think easy kill and chew them up spit them out and look for more.

View PostLordBraxton, on 23 June 2015 - 12:58 PM, said:

I agree the gargles is crappy, and completely defunct now that we have the EXE, however, if two EXEs went toe to toe with your dragon and lost they werent good shots.

I can melt a dragon side torso in less than 1.5 alphas at 400 meters. 2 alphas at 500-600. If they knew to pick a side torso and aim high they would have XL checked you immediately.

Remember people (including myself obviously) are still getting used to the mech.

However, out of 90 some mechs the Zeus is my best\favorite IS mech, and I love awkward assaults, soooo YMMV

EDIT: come to think of it... I have rarely kept 3 of a single mech, but I have 4 battlemasters, 4 awesomes, 4 banshees, and 4 zeus already mastered... and those are basically my favorite chassis... So maybe I'm weird and the EXE is trash... BRING ON THE POSITIVE QUIRKS! :P

they came 1 at a time while i stood still and just laid into them, his CT to my CT. As for alphas, that doesn't matter when u can put 2 ac5 rounds into your CT faster than anything else can in the game. Yes the Dragon 1N is OP but thats the kinda thing they have to face.

Again, are you seeing Warhawks? Gargoyles? Zeus? Victors? Battlemasters? Atlas? Highlanders?

That's what happens when one or two mechs/builds are so dominantly powerful vs. every other possible option.
