Then you've built it wrong somehow. There are only so many slots available per mech for all the things.

Battletech build rules establish maximum number of points per location based on mech tonnage. Don't blame PGI for following the rules, blame yourself for building your mech potentially sub-optimally.

PS: Nothing inherently wrong with going undertonned, but don't expect any benefits from it, either. And no, you can't have a faster mech either, we've gone over that way back in closed beta on the forums.

Sounds like you have room/weight for a bigger engine maybe?

Dump the FF and add another heatsink, strip a little armor and you can add 2 more heatsinks.

No, Ferro just weighs less than regular armor. The protection of 1 FF point is identical to 1 point of normal armor. You just get that same protection for less tonnage.

Ferro is downgrade to Endo-Steel because it saves less weight, you should only use it when you have a lot of critical slots and seriously need the weight boost.

The Sarna description is terribly obfuscated. "More protection per ton" in Sarna terms means that for 1 ton of weight, you get more points...but your armor limit is the same, thus you just save weight.

Standard armor in MWO gives you 32 points for every 1 ton, while IS FF gives you about ~35-36 points for every 1 ton.

The number is also 12%, actually.

Good, now you can add another heatsink without any problem since you have 1.5 tons free. Strip half a ton of armor off your legs and you can add 2 more heatsinks total.

Why do you have Ferro Fiberous armor? You don't need the tons, and are just wasting slots. Take it off, you have empty slots AND free tonnage.

Why do I even bother optimizing?

MISERY

If I could shave 1 ton somehow, I'd be able to get one more DHS (rather, I'd prefer removing the BAP, due to it being unimportant for this build).

Also, that is a horrible waste of a Misery if you're not planning to use the CT energy hardpoint (despite the low mountedness of it).

Yeah, drop the ferro armor and cut the legs to 85 65 (brainfart) and you can get 2 more heat sinks. IMO, however, that build is better for the Battlemaster, you can get 3 more heat sinks and a 375XL.
