In the screenshot below there are 2 UAV's.

Can you spot them?

Frozen City has to be the best map for UAV's.

With thermal vision inactive anyways.

The appearance of UAV's could be changed to make them equally recognizable on all maps.

Why you ask? Possibly to address something called game balance. Does that make sense?

Well

I don't see how weather affecting visibility of a UAV is a balance issue since everyone on that map has to deal with the same conditions

It might be a balance issue if UAV's were "OP" on arctic city map.

But OP is such a hideously abused, exaggerated and overused term, I think I'd have to wash my hands if I seriously tried to use that term in a sentence.

I'll be happy if only more people are aware of how tough it can be to spot UAV's under some circumstances.

Or how easy....

Must be the colors on my monitor but i see two blue blips on a white background in the first picture.

Not that hard to see on my rig....even without "Silent film Era" Vision. Maybe my monitor colors are wack....

I am also partially color blind BTW....

The question I would like to ask is: People aren't using all the tools that by default are already at their disposal?

I only see a player problem here, not a problem with UAVs.

(But then again I use a color-calibrated monitor that I set according to my very specialized needs.)

Why worry about them. They appear to be out of range. Why worry about UAVs that are out of range? They don't even show up on your radar. That's probably why you can't see them without themal.

You only should be concerned about a UAV if you see it on radar. As you should know, A UAV can be targeted by tapping the R key until it shows up.

Here we go. Trying to make something out of nothing.

Why can't we for once play this game without people looking for something to nerf?

i don't see a problem, you are supposed to use different vision modes depending on the map and situation

day frozen city is nearly unplayable without heat vision anyway

My setup is as stock as possibru.

No macros, no color calibration, no lead fishing weights stuffed inside a mouse to give it a better feeling of balance.

According to smurfy, clan gauss rifles have a maximum range of 1,980 meters. I doubt those UAV's were out of my range. But unfortunately never got to find out as both of those UAV's keeled over from old age before I had a chance to shoot them down.

One key aspect of being a good team player is doing things to help your allies survive in the game to give yourself better overall odds of defeating your opponents and winning the game. Shooting down UAV's that might target those on your team is one key example of this.

I personally dislike the crowd of people whose sole motivation for posting is to influence the mechanics of the game. Nerfing jump jets on highlanders, victors and other mechs -- because some people in this game are inadequate to the task of dealing with jump sniping is something I opposed and continue to oppose to this day. It seems to me the qualify of this forum improved dramatically once PGI said they were no longer paying attention to the forums, and all of those people stopped posting.

That said, there is a significantly difference between fanatically wanting to nerf things due to petty personal reasons.

And, pointing out how some of the visual modes have quirks for the sole purpose of trying to influence a more high quality end product.

I think most of the "OMG THIS IS SO OP!!" overreactionaries are gone.

I honestly hate those people for ruining jump jets and in my opinion for ruining the game.

Please don't lump me in with them, I'm like the complete opposite of whatever they represent.

So it's too much trouble to press H to look for UAVs. Got it.

I found this very funny, but would have found it more funnier to see the Kodiak mech in the corner somewhere... the "moonwalking bear"

You're one of the forum posters I never, ever, see in game.

Play more please. I would like to drop a UAV over your head on arctic city and giggle as your screams are drowned in a hail of lurm.

PPC's deal full damage up to around 500 meters.

Sometimes UAV's will be 900+ meters away and you'll only get a fraction of your full damage on them.
