Amazing how long those brawls lasted.

Amazing when brawls actually happened, instead of long range poking over the hills from far away.

Sorry but this really sounds like dat prom queen dat putz on like a ton of phat after squeezing out a few to many sick puppies.

(please stop it with the bad horrible gangsta speak - I will if you will)

Sorry but this really sounds like that mechwarrior that came to the forums to complain after realizing that they can troll if they want.

(please stop it with the erroneous troll - I will if you will)

The usual I think. Too weak, too slow, not "meta" enough, etc... Really, just take your pick.

I prove it is none of those every day I play. Well to slow... but it is supposed to be slow.

I have yet to be in a game where a brawl doesn't happen. Then again, I'm the one starting it, finishing it or dying in the process.

The thing is, we miss the Atlas not because of quirks, but because of how they used to be the titan of the game. In other mechwarriors they could go head-on with Dire Wolf's all day if they wanted to, but when the Dire Wolf came out on this, there was a huge difference between the two, then quirks came, and the atlas was given quirks that benefited it a bit, but not entirely to make it an "Atlas", I mean, just look at the Zeus! The new Battlemaster!

Now tell me what's wrong there, quirking, or just the fact that the Atlas shouldn't be a slow, hulking monster that goes " It's your lucky day!" as it pounds away at a Warhawk. Don't get it wrong, It's not because it's weak right now, it's that other mechs can outperform it anyday if its in the Heavy Category now because of overquirking, the Thunderwub, the Dakka Dragon, the Ebon Jaguar, the Dakka Jagger. and we all know it, more particularly, you and the other two.

But wait, you just want batter the true meaning of the video, so have fun with that :/

I still remember my firsts fights in my very first own mech (a K2) back in open beta. I had chills, when two atlases came stomping over the hill in caustic valley. Towards me. Slow, but mighty and deadly.

I´m missing the red eyes. So Terminator-like. I wished there were more effects like that. Mechs can be scary

An Atlas should never have been able to dance with a Dire unless the Atlas had a better pilot. I have matches where I am the Lord of destruction and game where I'm the whipping boy. Really depends on teh guys I'm trying to kill. I kill enough Dires to know the difference.

Really? Then why should the Atlas be there? I mean we have a King Crab that can go do 4 UACs or the Meta of Dual Gauss Dual PPCs. If an Atlas Shouldn't be able to dance with a Dire, then what about the Zeus, the Battlemaster? Even the Zeus has more armor than the Atlas and can face tank a Dire, I've seen it done before.

But what of the venerable Awesome that stands proudly upon the rocks at the end of the map? He can be seen from kilometres away, his iconic silhouette projected boldly across the cliff's face.

The Atlas was first.
An Atlas gives up 3-5 tons to a Dire Wolf for available weapons (IF you don't change teh engine) AND the Dire has lighter weapons. A Zeus does not have more armor than a Atlas. It Might have more (virtual) structure but the Atlas has more armor. If you saw a Zeus Face Tank a Dire, the Dire Pilot didn't know how to use his chosen weapon platform or the Zeus pilot was just out and out better.

If I remember correctly, The awesome was a fearsome mech in closed beta too, and in Battletech history, Adam Steiner Piloted one and took the battle to the Clans and won in one.

The Awesome was fearsome only when it was used without PPCs.

Then what about a King Crab going toe-to-toe with a Dire? I noticed you left that part out, going after that the Zeus has more structure but not armor, and saying that the Dire wolf pilot must've not been a good one.

You sure? I just stated that Adam Steiner defeated the Clans in a modified Awesome 9M (yes it has PPCs).

Dual AC20 or Gauss is a very powerful set of weapons. An Atlas can have 2 PPC and one AC, but can make up for it in lasers and SRMs. I have no problem wrecking a Dire in my Atlas-S or D-DC. I don't have the right rhythm to do it in my King Crab. Like I said the Pilot counts for more than the weapon.

Adam Steiner also had teh Cartoon's writers on his side and a lack of ghost heat. ;)

They did have problems in the third(?) episode where they're fighting Jade Falcons in the deserts with heat....

Are you guys serious? I make a video about missing the good old times, and you go and talk about how they are now?

Shame, shame upon you badly...

The video is nice. Good job. I probably should have said that first.

Anyway, the good old days weren't as good as people remember it. The graphics might have been better, but...

We had dual gauss and A/C20 K2s running amok (soon replaced by the jumping Cataphracts and Jagger's).

We had streak cats coring out lights in 1 to 2 salvos due to CT only homing streaks.

We had graphical HUD glitches that created weird funky data like mechs called "wwwwwwwwww" and other HUD issues not showing damage or duplicating what weapons were equipped.

We'd drop with missing weapons, equipment, and even engines that didn't save properly in the mechlab.

Damage glow would cause the screen to darken to the point where you couldn't see anything but black.

When knock-down was ingame, Dragons ruled the country side knocking down mechs. Often two Dragons would take turns keeping an enemy on the ground trolling that guy till they finally killed him

Base rushes were a thing. Half of the assault matches were a foot race to the enemy base for a cap.

And on and on....

This game still has it's issues, but it wasn't that greener back then either. Don't let nostalgia warp your recall of the past. The game in all it's flaws is generally a bit better than it was (even if the present and past were far from perfect). Maybe after all this time the game should be better than it is, but that is a discussion for another time.

3 to 1 odds are a minimum requirement for victory in Universe, and if I personally fought 3 people at once, It have my hands full. We can only fight and defend against so many at a time, for me its 1 and 1.

LOL I don't track episodes that close on any show. ;)

(BTW: I am typing in a friendly voice Scout. No frustration or anger here :D )

Oh lord. Gauss Kitties were the best. With a good scout and my 2 LRM20s, they rarely had a chance to do damage! Ahh Teamwork... I really miss it.

What I can say right now that some issues like you've stated are true, but we all can say that we miss some things, such as the old sounds, the Atlases red eyes, and such.
