What I can say right now that some issues like you've stated are true, but we all can say that we miss some things, such as the old sounds, the Atlases red eyes, and such.

They removed the red eyes before I got in game :(

The Awesome was fearsome only when it was used without PPCs.

Tabletop 8Q can keep a 3-3-2 fire pattern all day. That's quite scary! (not so much in MWO)

I know... players here cannot accept how the fights are supposed to be. Short and brutal.

Those Atlas red eyes were cool. I think they took them out of the game because they were visible across the map (like 2 red beacons saying "here I am, shoot me").

PGI should add the glowing eyes back in, but have them be on a toggle. Since no Atlas has a missile door, use the missile door command to turn the eyes on and off. Have it default off in match just in case.

Ok PGI, let's make that happen :).

The only thing i miss is actually the graphics, sounds and the slower paced gameplay.

That would be it.

I haven't been here when the game was slower paced but man it looks good. Now it is more like: *peek around the corner* ---> oh ****, there's an enemy ---> AAAAALPHA ---> Oh darn, where is most of my center torso?

which is basically saying, 'I miss when this game had quality standards.'

Oh I'd be so distracted by making my Atlas blink I'd lose twice as much and laugh 3 times harder.

Well I said clans killed the games enjoyment when the came out in the 80's

They keep up the tradition with massive alpha's now, taking over from skill, in a game that has seen the near end of the pop tarting, to be replaced with just as dull corner peaking.

Not only that but the JJ nerf means its alot harder to brawl a Victor

is this a "bow to the clan overlord's" post?

I seriously can't tell... Because frankly, all the mechs you're "lamenting" honestly function just fine in the hands of talented pilots. So... yeah. I guess congrats on the vid?
The "spider-5v handles fine in the hands of a talented pilot" argument has neber worked and still doesn't

a video I found way back in the deep recesses of youtube.

The Victor before it was nerfed... when there was 8v8 ... ;(

I would to see the return of :
- Higher TTK
- Useful Jump Jets
- 'Knocking at deaths door' Ammo Explosions

We had a lot of updates, new mechs, and great fixes but seeing these old videos reminds me why I fell in love with the game to begin with.

Dat slow-paced action.
Dat slow STD engine.
Dat TTK.
Dat Red eyes.
Dat sounds orgasmn.
Dat graphics eye-gasm.
Dat Lurms paths with some good old fashioned pottin' trace smoke.
Dat weapon PPC graphics.

Things I miss.

(Skip to 2 minutes in to be close to the Atlas versus Atlas battle).

Guard duty followed with Atlas brawling; team command, communication... When capturing the base was more important than mass slaughter, when defense was as important as attacking, when a loss could happen in seconds and when the big bucks was in capturing the base. Back when role warfare mattered.

Back when LRMs were beautiful, and killed by things like LEGGING instead of CT only.

When streaks were more of a skill based weapon.

Stock Dragon hero versus Custom Dragon hero; Stock Dragon WINS! Intense battle!

44 minutes of closed beta matches. Enjoy.

Remember when the Atlas could actually do damage to be feared? Now the lights trip over themselves trying to be the first to reach them and initiate the circle of death. R.I.P Atlas. ,,l,, PGI. 100 odd centre torso armor is meant to do what, exactly, against the dps flying around these days? Oh, yeah, and the 20 rear torso armour, that'll help...

If PGI would put collisions back in many of these light pilots would fall over themselves allowing you to destroy them like the good old days.

PGI NEEDS TO PUT COLLISIONS BACK IN.

If you want scary Atlases and slower paced gameplay nowadays, play Stock Mode Mondays...3025 tier 1 tech with SHS. Turning a corner and seeing one in a stock K2 or something is truly scary...

AWE-8Qs are the PPFLD kings. HBKs with AC20s are truly fearsome...

That looks awesome. What is this game if I may ask? Is there even music playing in the background or is that from your own collection?
I remember playing something similar long time ago, but back then it had some big problems it couldn't display graphics properly on some PCs. I guess I heard Mechwarrior Online on third video, but it can't be true. Right?

MWO for all of them. The music's my own though.

Even more surprising, that's MWO back then on medium settings.
This is also MWO on medium settings.

Check out that missile speed! WARP SPEED! Super spread but can tight niche, incredible verticality! Developer Stated Over 25 damage per missile (due to missile splash bug). And yet, they were far better balanced, more fair, and not nearly as dangerous even without AMS or ECM.

DX 11 medium settings 2012 on Frozen City

This is the more current MWO on max settings.

Same, but on frozen city day for a good comparison. Shows Frozen City Night, Forest Colony then Frozen City (at 7 minutes). This is 2013, less than 1 year after the DX 11 vids. Look at how low the quality became. This is during the "Warning! Targeted!" age.

:( MWO, what happened to you?

That total lack of damage showing on the targets.
Those sounds which were horrible, some were great, but many were horrible.
The graphics were nicer at times, but remember all the whinage about how how badly the game ran for so many of the players, which is what prompted the changes.

Lets keep in mind folks the reasons why the game doesn't look like it did in CB, people whining about how badly the game ran, how low their FPS were at even the lowest settings. We didn't have damage textures at all yet and STILL people couldn't run the game for crap.

We can't have DX12 support right now because CryTek's DX12 upgrade totally removes DX9 support, and we have TOO many players who are stuck in DX9 and 32bit. And yes, DX12 really DOES give a huge boost to eye candy and performance, there's plenty of examples of it out there to view and drool over.

The glowing eye of my Atlas, yes, I miss that, but since many people complained that it showed everyone EXACTLY where to aim to get a headshot, we don't have it anymore.

You guys forget, many of the things we lost, we lost because people whined about them. It's why the graphics aren't as pretty, it's why PPCs are so damn slow, it's why Gauss has a charge up, it's why JJs are now HoverJets.

Nostalgia is all well and good, but don't forget the reality as well. Those who refuse to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat the mistakes.

i love watching these retro videos, so much has changed. loved how the enemy team in that NGNG video had 6 heavys and 2 assaults, had a splat cat, no charge up gauss, and the overall slower pace.
