 don't you mean "please gib me po_op"

Anyway sad this is this thing is gonna be poop HOWEVER I WANT MY SEXY MISSILE ARM NOW!
(What does it look like with the other missiles? Ie SRM 6? SRM 4? etc)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As much as this chat was very productive... (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh)

Shall we drop this down a grave or move it to PM's and talk about IIC mechs?

I'll be first:

I will use my hunchback II to spew duel Gauss rifles from those 2 hunchies high mounted....

I don't like the idea of iic mechs at all.

Not because of balance issues, there are plenty of ways to avoid and mitigate those.

But having clan mechs that look like IS mechs will make the factions much less visually distinct, I want to have them feel and look as different as possible.

So IMO iic mechs, mixtech and salvaged clan mechs are all things that are best left out of this game.

Focus on making two distinct and balanced factions in a Community Warfare with deeper strategy and a Solaris with ongoing leagues and ranking.

To me its the fact that second line Mechs were for the less fortunate warriors and the old and outdated warriors. Then again nobody here in the clans are a front line unit no matter how much they think they are. Unless PGI starts forming Canon units.

pretty sure that iic mechs have significant visual differences in the appearance from their inner sphere counterparts

There'll be a version that can mount 4 energy too, if Sarna is anything to go by. GLORIOUS.

At least im not the only one that dislike this idea... PGI should stop bringing new mech for now and focus on the other features/problems of the game

Good news! The IIC designation means they're a redesigned version of the original mech. Plus PGI said they're doing a fairly heavy redesign of the mechs. We'll see, but Jenner IIC is all that I need.

this isnt power creep any more it's a power wave that costs about $200 a year to surf

This is both true... but not true.

The clans are in a way upgrades of the old designs, let's take a tour on the CURRENT clan omnimechs in game...

(clan omnimech) Mist Lynx:
Posted Image
(older inner sphere battlemech) Sling:

Posted Image

Okay then... how about...

(clan omnimech) Hellbringer
Posted Image

(older inner sphere battlemech) Warhammer
Posted Image

hmmm....
oh I know!

(clan omnimech) Mad Dog
Posted Image
(older inner sphere battlemech) Archer
Posted Image

huh...

well...

(clan omnimech) summoner
Posted Image
(inner sphere battlemech) thunderbolt
Posted Image

................ ooooookay

(clan omnimech) gargoyle
Posted Image
(is battlemech) charger
Posted Image

...........

yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa................

Let's not forget the rest that is not in game...

clan = inner sphere
Behemoth = matar
kodiak = highlander (links are there...)
supernova = kingcrab

etc...

you forget the clans CAME from the inner sphere.

Most of there mechs vaguely look similar. You can show these mechs above to your friend and ask if the first is a redesign of the later and they will say most likely or "wait... there is a difference?"

I tell you... if you can't tell the difference between these two (jenner IIC left, jenner (IS) right)
Posted ImagePosted Image

or....

(hunchback IIC left, hunchback (IS) right)
Posted Image

or...

Posted Image

or....

Posted Image

Then we have more then mech design issues...

btw... yes, the two jenners kinda have some resembulance, but the clan one is a chicken walker... that and has missiles heavily in the arms and a more circular cockpit.

The hunchback has two hunchies and a whole different CT... also CT weapons but no head....

The IIC orion is aysemtrical and has a missile launcher right in the shoulder and a different other arm gun.

highlanders?... yep... this is a bit trickier... however we can assume a shoulder differance and also if you notice this the missile is on the other side torso...

Beyond these visual ques... I think the fact there lazors are light blue and yellow instead of green and dark blue or the fact there missiles is blue is enough of a hinter or the fact 100% of there weapons starts with C....

I am all up for originality... but this case? you are compairing clans who used old tech and improved it to a whole new chassis, and say they look to simular, this already happed in the above eg....

Trust me, Things will be fine... we haven't even seen the art for these mechs yet.

EDIT: my thingy kidna went funky... had to delete some pics and some formating failed

wwwwwweeeeeeeeeell... these IIC mechs are often deffending planets... the IS in CW can attack clan planets, a lot actually, so in practicallities all IIC's... even the rare ones, and the clan refits of recent IS mechs, will be common sight.

2: The hunchback IIC has seen very heavy front line use....

I rly like to see KODIAK........... But hell, current IS are alrdy weaker then TBR/DW/SRC pawa. They must somewhow buff IS mechs , at least some of them. Atlas should be able to stay 50/50 with DW. Now even, extremely good Atlas pilot could fall, to extremely bad DW pilot...... mostly.

Well not sure at what elo you play... but most people say the other way around... ya know, dragons doing simular damage to a king crab... while mechs like nova struggle to compete at all...

But anyway... kodiak was frequently mentioned and will be the first non IIC mech most likely for the clans for a battlemech assault.... there is absolutely no doubt about it.

They say they want the first IIC package to contain the improved versions of the iconic 'Mechs that the SLDF brought with them into exile, and then they go and stuff the Jenner IIC in it instead of a Locust IIC.

Seriously PGI, Locust IIC. You keep missing the mark on packages I will pay monies for!

True, but they have a lot of IIc to burn through , Russ mentioned IIIc package , so I guess it will be a while till other second line mechs make it in.
BTW, when do we think they will advance the timeline to 3058 to at least give IS ermeds?
