Grasshopper doesn't belong there. As it's name implies, it's supposed to be long, lanky and jumpy. It's scaled perfectly, and got an archetype change to reflect that. The Atlas is built like a brick ****house. Stand them side by side and it's easy to see the 30 ton difference
Everyone screams 'Smaller, denser mechs!!! Higher hardpoints!!' Well you can't have everything. Deal with it

I'll just leave this link here and quietly note that the date on it is June 21, 2013.

Centurion, Trebuchet, Catapult, Stalker. And Quickdraw.

There's my top 5.

Nah, wont include any results from the old thread since there has been lots of new Mechs.

1. Catapult (it appears to be friggin bigger than a Stalker in game + dat ears!)
2. Awesome
3. Nova
4. Quickdraw
5. Cicada (it is more of a light, after all)

Bonus:

6. Ice Ferret (yes yes, it is a medium, but I think scaling it down a bit would greatly help the chassis)

OP nailed it in the OP.

1) Awesome
2) Quickdraw
3) Dragon
4) Catapult
5) Centurion

Yeah, Nova needs to be smaller. I have 3 Novas, I feel the pain. But how long have the Awesome, Dragon, Centurion and Catapult owners been waiting?

If the community doesn't put the Catapult in the top 5, I will be so disappoint. Grasshopper pilots, get in line.

1. Quickdraw - 60 tonner that's the size of a 90 tonner
2. Catapult - 65 tonner that's actually bigger than a 85 tonner (even though that 85 tonner is pretty underscaled - Stalker)
3. Grasshopper - 70 tonner that's as tall as 90-100 tonners.
4. Trebuchet - too tall
5. Centurion - too tall and wide

Edit: Goodbye Black Hawk, OP didn't like my cheats.

I'm gonna add Grasshopper as #5. The damn thing is as tall as an Atlas while weighing 30 tons less.

height =/= mass. im the same height as my friend. i weigh 140, he weighs 240.

how has no one mentioned the vindicator? oh yeah. its so bad everyone forgot it existed.

However, in Mechwarrior/Battlemech, Mass = Combat Effectiveness (usually, there are some outliers), and scaling also is a factor of Combat Effectiveness in a real-time game (aiming at your target).

Thus, it makes some sense for the lower mass (lower effectiveness) mechs to have a somewhat smaller size to help add some form of trade-off to picking mechs, rather than just picking the heaviest one in each weight class.

Trebuchet, Nova, Catapult, Quickdraw, Stalker (enlargement/rework vs catapult)

Probably the worst offenders but many more need some love especially the mediums, every IS 55tonner

Common, I think you can all afford to put one Clan mech in your list of 5. Sheesh!

mass is the combination of the height, width, and depth. this thread seems to be focused on only one of those factors. the treb is tall but pancake thin. the grasshopper has stick limbs.

1. Quickdraw (too big)
2. Centurion (a little too wide)
3. Timber Wolf (slightly too short- slightly.)
4. Catapult (taller and wider than the Stalker, and almost as long....)
5. ....ehhhhhhhh..... I guess the Awesome is a little wider than it needs to be?

Note that if a mech got its height reduced, its other 2 dimensions would have to be reduced at the same time in order to preserve the aspect ratio (otherwise it would look really stretched/distorted).
