I agree with everything said here. I have always been and always will be a spider pilot at heart.3X thanks for the post and the builds. You have almost all of them. Broke out my Anansi this week, first match HP Manafold hade 4 kills and 5 assists and like 600 or 700 damage. I used to use xl270 5 JJs 2 mlasers and SRM 6 with 1.5 tons ammo. The new SRM missile velocity increases and tighter patterns make SRM 6 brutal. I saw a video on U tube where a pilot was running an XL 265 and it got me thinking. With a XL 265 you can get 2 mlasers SRM 6 with 1.5 T ammo and 2 MGs w/ 1/2 ton ammo and 3 jjs on it. I do miss 5 jjs but this build has all weapons slots filled and you can get used to 3 jjs. As far as 2 MGs being useless, I think the annoyance factor should not be overlooked plus once everything is red it helps to get killing blow.
One interesting fact is that it gives 5% Steiner loyalty bonus in CW.

So You Bought The Anansi

Every time this thing goes on sale, I spend half an hour in mechlab trying to come up with anything I want to drive.
You've covered the bases for me this time, thanks. Saves me time and MC.

So I finally cracked on the last sale. It's a really, really bad mech
but I'm kindof enjoying it.

Wow, I am afraid that I have to admit that after an extended period of running medium mechs and then leveling wolfhounds, my spider skills are severely lacking
I am going to have to take some time and get practiced back up.

Badmechs are their own reward when you do well with them. Anansi is a very special kind of bad, and somehow manages to be endless fun to drive.

I have great fun piloting my Anansi. I dont manage a whole lot of damage most times 250 is average, but as a harrasment mech it is great fun. "chase the squirrel as i lead you back to my heavy/assault friends" type thing. Honestly it seems most people can't just not chase a spider, it must be the name they just want to squish it LOL.

Yes, exactly! Spiders as a whole shine when they are being annoying pests distracting the enemy. They are not typically high damage dealers (though you do get those games from time to time). If you can get three or four enemies distracted by one spider it gives your team a great numbers advantage.
