Greetings MechWarriors,

This is an advance notice for all pilots that we will be running a Community Warfare event from June 30th until July 6th! This Event will have a strong focus on Unit-based warfare, but there will be a Personal Challenge.

Full details of the Event will be posted on Monday, but we want to provide you with some of the core components in time to assist you or your Unit leadership toward making an informed decision regarding which Faction and/or Unit will claim your allegiance for this Event.
Keep in mind that breaking a Faction Contract still requires a Cooldown period of 72 hours before you'll be able to forge a new Contract. This advance notice is thus also intended to provide you or your Unit leadership enough time for that Cooldown period to expire if you wish to forge a new Contract with another Faction.

The Event will be comprised of three Challenge components:
  • A Unit-based Event Point Challenge
  • A Unit-based Planet Capture & Hold Challenge
  • A Personal Event Point Challenge
There will also be three Leaderboard components to this Event, catered specifically toward Units:
  • Planet Ownership Leaderboards, by Unit
  • Overall Event Point Leaderboards for Inner Sphere and Clan, by Unit
  • Specific Event Point Leaderboards for each individual House and Clan, by Unit
There will be two ways to earn Event Points during this Event, so you'll have the chance to earn up to 2 Event Points per match:
  • Attain a match score of 80 or above in Invasion or Counter Attack = 1 Event Point
  • Attain a match victory = 1 Event Point
If you are in a Unit (no matter the size) any Event Points you attain will count toward both the Unit-based Event Point Challenge and the Personal Event Point Challenge.

Important information:
  • Pilots will need to attain a total of 10 Event Points by the end of the Event in order to qualify for any Rewards resulting from their Unit's placement in a Leaderboard
  • We recommend that you stay with the same Faction for the duration of the Event to maximize your potential Leaderboard rewards
  • Event Points attained will count toward both the Unit-based Event Point Challenge and the Personal Event Point Challenge if you are in a Unit (of any size) during this Event
  • If you are not in a Unit, you will only be able to attain Personal Challenge Event Points
  • Support services will not be able to perform manual Contract cancellations on behalf of players or Units for this Event

That's it for today MechWarriors, but keep an eye out for the full Event details on Monday!

Is this going to be calculated in a way that prevents MS being the auto-winners of the planet ownership and event points, or does the fact that they outnumber everybody else already guarantee them first place?

Any Wolf-aligned units looking for an extra player just for the duration of the event?

We could use some in Kurita. ;)

Seriously though... it better be IS favored this time around. These contracts going elsewhere is only good enough for farming the base rewards (mechbay @ Rank 2 is nice).

Unless I'm misreading this, it really appears as though scoring is cumulative.

So, a unit of 96 vs a unit of 48: If every player in each unit plays 10 matches, so the unit of 96 has 8 groups playing 10 matches each, and loses every match but every player scores in every game, it gains 960 points. The unit of 48 doing the same thing - every player playing 10 matches, WINNING every game, with every player personally scoring too... they get 960 points. To tie the unit of 96, they need to win every match and the unit of 96 to lose every match?

How does this not mean larger units simply win by default? Or is that the intention? It just looks that way to me.

Any Falcon pugs who are looking for a unit, even if it is temporary hit me up for an invite to Clan Fire Mandrill.

To be fair, according to Tukayyid stats released, MS was the 7th largest unit, just that their win rate ended up being higher than the 6 units that were larger.

And how are IS units supposed to capture or hold a Planet? Did you take a look at the map recently?

Most of the units over here quit CW anyways so happy PUG stomping Clanners.

Start ghost dropping on Marik worlds? They'll never see it coming.

A CW event that's centered towards units?

I might end up staying out of this, no matter what the rewards are for the personal challenge.

During the Tukkayid event there were way too many people playing as Inner Sphere resulting in high wait times for them. PGI, can you guys give us some % numbers for faction populations so people can make a more informed decisions on which faction they should join to get fast match ups?

I would hate to join a faction and find out its super saturated with players already.

Its great to have such advanced notice for an event, thank you for keeping us informed PGI
it would be even nicer if along with this event we can be assured that:
Ghosts drops if they happen (and thanks for working that they happen less often) return a minimum match score of 80pts (rather than 9-12) so that those games won't be a waste of time and
We can be assured that 90%+ of games won't be large groups vs mostly pug/solo players so that the round is fun and there is a decent chance that most everyone on both teams can get a match score of 80 (yes I know 80 is relatively easy to get but if you ever have dropped solo vs a 9+man premade team you basically only get to play your first mech, the others are dead within a few seconds of spawning...and yes the recent changes have made that more difficult for one side to do now but its still been happening)

I don't think we need to have a minimum of 80 match score on ghost drops for this particular event because we are getting a guaranteed point for victory. If we got both points on a ghost drop people would be actively seeking them.

Unfortunately WAR is that way much of the time... the bigger Unit usually wins. Sucks, but it is a fact of life.
