Surely you can turn that AC10 into an AC20 with 100 tons to play with.

Just bought one. Will play around once I am home this evening. Anyone try a PPC/Gauss build?

The damage is there but the low slung mounts make using it pretty awkward. You have to nearly fully expose yourself to get the alpha off. Other platforms are better suited for the weapon combo.

I always found 6 Large or 6 medium/pulse with an AC20 to be the most effective.

The big thing with an Atlas in today's meta is to master the side-poke. You don't hill hump with the thing, you poke around the side of a building, or arch or whatever. Save you armor the first 5 minutes or so of the match while the teams soften each other and start running hot, THEN show up with a near mint Atlas to bring the pain.

This is the truth. Despised the Boar when I bought it on sale. Seems to have the worst hit boxes and suffers from lack of a 2nd ballistic and missile hard point. IF caught in the open at start of round you end up losing 1/2 your armor. I almost asked for a refund. IMO its the worst of the atlases. I finally finished it with 3 LPL 1 UAC5 and LRM 10 for suppression.(320Std)

Not amazing, but very fun! XL

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...00d58fa546dc24f (6 LL can be replaced with 4x PPC or 4x LPL)

More practical brawler build STD

First off let me say this up front, DO NOT XL Atlas! no matter what! That is a surefire suicide as any load out you use would clearly show that your an XL and any pilot who knows the games would quickly focus fire on your side torso's. Second, The 6 MPL is probably a good idea. however i'd pull them off and add 2 large lasers and 4 medium lasers. This gives you some good range at a slight decrease in damage. Third, the LBX10 is a good weapon, don't get my wrong, but like any shotgun, it requires you to really get in close to use, and with most builds in MWO these days, you'd probably get ripped apart trying to get close enough.
Now i'd replace it with a AC/10 and upgrade the LRM 10 to a 20 or even a 15, it's a good way to keep players distracted trying to doge missiles well your closeing into range. but always keep your team close. With the right load out, good planning, and some luck. the Boar's head will probably shine. Though personally I think it needs 2 missile slots.

ive run all the BH configs, it's THE most frustrating atlas there is, it has such an identity crisis that puts this pasture is greener on the other side mentality into your thoughts. i could go LLs, but i could also go a bit ballistic heavy, or missile, or small lasers, or mid sized, pulse? no im not crazy, or am i?

it's either highly configurable, or never quite right; im with the latter.

I have been wrecking face with this lately (I have all the modules for it);

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b4bfe4116a4c77a

I used to think I wouldn't like this mech and maybe before the crit reduction perk I wouldn't have but this build just tanks like mad and pours out damage.

Playing BH is fun once a month but its far from competitive. 90% of things you want to do with boar head, battlemaster does better.

I love my Boar's Head. Even in high PSR matches it can do well. The Atlas got amazing structure buffs which can make you very hard to kill. The BLR is up there in my favourite mechs and I agree it is a better platform with those sky-high mounted energy hardpoints but there is just something so cool about being the biggest mech on the field.

Not my best stats on a mech by a long shot but pretty respectable. I'd be curious to know the stats since the structure buff.

I run a very similar build but squeeze a STD 355 in there by shaving off a bit of armour on legs. I also front load armour with 12/16/12 on rear armour IIRC. That build is a lot of fun and runs cool. One other little difference is that I put my LPL on the left arm since a lot of players instinctively target the Atlas' right torso.

I mastered mine with what I think of as the Stalker 4N "plus" build (std 350, 6 LL, Near max armor, the rest heat sinks). Alas, because that build, like all the others mentioned above can be done, or nearly so, with other mechs I doubt I will ever play the BH again (until PGI does another Champion/Hero event). As to the actual all LL build, it worked fine for the most part. Only downside was on a few matches where smart light (small profile mechs) pilots would face hug...presumably knowing that I couldn't get at them with the arm mounts when they were really close in. If you can avoid that, then the build works just fine, even if it is utterly uninspired.
