The biggest difference here is that the Oxide is a hero. As soon as a hero mech is made really good, the cries of "P2W" start to rise.

The "Prime" version will operate as a hero - so there, they can begin whining now.

Given that they listed the max engine cap as being higher than the stock engine, engine changing is pretty much confirmed.

I would expect Endo/FF to be that way as well, but the FAQ isn't up yet for some reason...

From Zeece's transcript of the Town Hall:

#New Clan IIC Mech Pack

* Same Price Point as IS Packs 20/40/60/80
* Adjust the same way as IS Mechs
* Jenner
* Hunchback
* Orion
* Highlander
* Art is all original.. not just adjusting the IS mech versions
* Release Dates - Late in the Year
* May be able to tease images as soon as tomorrow

So no fixed equipment, armor, structure, or armour. Just fixed hardpoints.

Well, if they let people buy a custom variant with the hero's hardpoints but no C-Bill booster or fancy paintjob, such concerns would be invalidated. They kinda backed themselves into that corner by making these gameplay-affecting items be money-only.

Also note that the Jenny IIC 6-missile variant gets a C-Bill booster too. :P

Also... holy crap! All 4 mechs drop on the same day! No more murdering the queue!

It seems they're addressing the complaints for color unlocks with the Faction Selections too, as there APPEAR to be an alternate set of colors for the faction unlocks.

The 4th Orion IIC will be able to sport 2 Gauss :D

Highlander can't, though T.T Most it can run is 2 UAC10s

Um... This is EXTREMELY AWESOME LOOKING!!! ...BUT!!!... I'm with Locutos:

I need to know,
are they using Clantech, IS-tech or a mix of both ?
couse the Engines, Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fibrous seems changeable.
or is there a plan to upgrate the IS weapon collection

i dont know if i get a ISMech with Clanweapons, or a ClanMech with more customisation.

The prices are IS, the mechs are canonically Clan, the options seem customizable... um, are we looking at actual fun-to-build Clan mechs??? Is the price reduction for this package specifically, since they are second-line Clan mechs?

*wants to throw money at screen, but concerned*

2 LPL, 4 ERML, DHS. You'll have.... 34t available, I think McGral said? 35? 12t of LPL, 4t of ERML, 2t of 4 JJ's, that's 18t. Even at 34, that's still leaving enough room for 24 DHS if you stick with the stock engine. Of course, you'd upgrade to a ~250 rated engine for 10 TrueDubs, but you're still going to end up with ~22 DHS or so.

I hope they seriously revisit IS Jenners and Highlander's quirks before these launch. I really do.

29 tons max armour and 200 engine, 31 tons if you strip both arms. Too small to be used as effective shields (with the gigantic hunch)

I'm gonna Lulz around with a quad UAC2. Don't judge me.

PGI said that they gave the Oxide 4 missiles instead of 6 because it would be too good at murdering lights (because of MWO's Streak-SRM mechanics). But now they're giving us a fully un-nerfed Oxide that gets lighter and longer-ranged Streaks, JJs, and all of the other Clan-tech benefits...Wut.

However, it does still have the Arctic Cheetah to compete with, which will probably be more durable (if the Jenny IIC has the same hitboxes as the IS version).

I thought the Jenner would have less firepower...but it has more, can more faster, with more firepower. The only thing it doesn't have is ECM and as you said, hitboxes.

At least we know what the IIC will look like...and hopefully the oxide gets buffed:

Well, that was a lot quicker than I expected it to be. I thought the preorder was going to be slated for the end of the summer. Apparently I misheard that part. I'm a bit worried about the power creep on the JR7-IIC Hardpoints . . . that thing makes an Oxide utterly obsolete in EVERY way. This slated full rebalance system better cover that, or there'll be problems in that regard. I don't think the Oxide should be P2W . . . but it should at least be able to compete in some way. The Jenner IIC thoroughly obsoletes the bloody thing.

At least I have until the end of July to make a decision on them as an early adopter. The results on these next few patches and items that are slated for the horizon will guide whether or not I make that jump.

I really wish I could get a word on the status of the Flamers reengineering, besides Paul's last update in February. . . . That would make me open my wallet right up for these (at least the Jenner and Hunchback).

Will we see a revisit of the Oxide possibly, in light of the fact that a 6 SRM hardpoint Jenner now exists (that will later be F2P once it's available for CBills)?

This still apply? I haven't had much of an opportunity to fire at Jenners since the hitbox change recently.

I'd totally order the Jenner package.

On the condition that IS Jenners get the FIrestarter esque quirk pass that this seems to call for.

With this package out, I have no reason to use my Oxide anymore, apart from CW. Which I don't play.

Well, after shooting at a few of them they seem to be a little bit more durable but their CT is still the biggest part, and I've cored out a few without having to try that hard.

Yes, but it's hardpoints are not unique. The Prime variant will get the 30% C-Bill boost, but anyone can buy it with C-Bills, minus the boost. The problem with heroes and P2W whiners is the unique hardpoint layout.

I've always thought the Oxide was underwhelming. Four missile hardpoints? Total? And not even ECM or JJs to compensate? That would be more than enough, in fact it would be great, if missiles were as powerful in MWO as they are in TT. Since that's not the case, it's defo due for an upgrade of some sort. Even the Huginn got some monster quirks to make up for its hardpoint shortcomings - no such love for the Oxide.

It's only real use is as a light hunter by mounting quad Streaks. 2xSRM-6 + 2xSRM-4 is just way too inaccurate in MWO to be a consistently solid contribution to the team. I imagine the 'Mech'll improve once they get around to the "massive rebalancing of all 'Mechs" that Russ mentioned in the Town Hall.

Hence my suggestion for PGI to make generic C-Bill variants with the same hardpoints and quirks as the heroes, but no C-Bill boost or paintjob. Thus, no hero could ever be called P2W again.

Why are there engine caps in the descriptions? Does it mean we can swap engines, despite them being Clan refits? Do we get to swap Omni-pods in that case?

You don't get to swap Omnipods because they're not Omnimechs. They're Battlemechs, just like every IS mech currently in the game, and thus subject to the same customization rules.

Since they are Battlemechs and not Omnimechs, no.
