After ending the first season "M.B.O. meets I.S.W." we are happy to announce the start of a new season.
Scheduled start for season 2 is August 3rd, 2015!
In this unique League units play on a planetary map in the context of the known universe of BattleTech for the seasons’ victory. It's not a simple table ranking, each team has to fulfill individual strategic goals to win.
Each faction (and thus each active unit for them) receives individual missions that have to be fulfilled first. Contrary to the well-known MWO CW, units aren’t a small cog in a big machine. They act fully independent and have full control of their logistics and strategy. The whole is embedded in a dynamic economic system. You decide by yourself when, who and where you want to attack. Fight drops are done using the MWO lobby and will be reported afterwards in our planetary tool. If you succeed you make progress, otherwise you and your fraction will disappear. But no worries: If this happens you could continue as a pirate unit and start a second career with the possibility to settle old scores. If you are looking for an alternative for real BattleTech Community Wareware and you want to want to have your destiny in their own hands, you are exactly right with us!
What is needed to participate in the league?
A team of 8+ people being able and willing to drop at least once a week.
A person in charge as contact person and for the operation of the ISW-Tool.
Droptime is CEST (summer) 8.00pm - 8.30pm.
Which fraction / group could you play?
All! Several units could independently for the same fraction. We differentiate into mercenaries, small fractions and large fractions.
What is the difference between the fractions?
The difference is primarily in the administrative burden and the number of your direct opponent:
Mercenaries do not necessarily use the ISW tool. They get for each successful fight a reward and move up in the MRBC rating. Ambitions mercenaries could become active on the map taking orders and fight for other fractions. However they have limited season goals and could not win alone.
Small fractions are peripheral states and small clans. They own in average 1 to 4 sectors and could maintain more troops than mercenaries. Administration is manageable and they usually have only one direct opponent.
Large fractions are well-known IS-houses and Invasions clans. They need a higher administrative effort (approximately 3x 15 minutes per week in the ISW-tool). And will be confronted with more than one opponent. In average they should be able to play one or two drops per week.
Have small units any chance to win at all?
Definitely yes! Each units get individual goals based on assumed number of drops per week and drop strength. Additionally the economic aspect helps to keep smaller units competitive. The difference between small and large units is the number of direct opponents and the difficulty of their goals.
That sounds very extensive, should I worry about it?
No, not at all! We worked out a way to minimize the barrier to entry for new units. We offer a short version of the rules, a tutorial video for the ISW tool and we have engaged admins. Additionally, the experienced active units will help you getting started. All you need is someone who enjoys the strategic aspect of the ISW took, someone who negotiates the fights with other units and of course a good drop leader organizing the battle field.
What are the conditions for drops and what are the options?
- Drop strength of 4 to 12 players
- Maximum of 9 drops per fight (sometimes less)
- Whether and how often you drop a week is decided by yourself
- A large variety of drop rules. You could choose your favorites and you only play what you want to play (e.g. drop deck, joker deck, weight class, stock mechs, module restrictions ….)
- Pure tech or mixed tech[/color]
- Possibility of deputy fights: jumping in for others if needed
