Not really, the issue is, by lore the Nova and the SCR have the same legs, because they are the same pods. Now if oyu scale that down from your said 150% and this would not work anymore, except you have some vodoo doing shrinking the leg pods for the Nova.

No, if they would, they would fixed the most issued mechs that need it and not make a poll where people pick them.
Because then they can avoid the inevitable "Why wasn't X mech picked instead, it needs it, and is more important for Y reasons" flood of posts that would have happened if they unilaterally decided which mechs to work on first. This way, anyone can point to the polls and say "Because WE -the community- voted for X mech instead of Z mech".
I honestly think it's a good idea. We always pester them about being more transparent, using the forums more often (which I don't blame them, considering how hostile these forums became at several points in time), and including the community in more aspects of the development.
Basically, for me, this is a step in the right direction.
Now how do you think people would have reacted if PGi just came out and said: "We're going to re-scale the Awesome, Gargoyle, Adder, and Nova"?. They're already yelling at each other for voting for a mech that someone else thinks doesn't need it.
"Avoid the steel shavings storm by putting all agency with the community" is literally the smartest move they could have done here. Because you KNOW, as well as I do, that if they had made the decision themselves, there would be endless seas of whining about how this mech deserved it more than that mech. They are already beginning to form in this thread, and literally every thread about the polls yet. Only reason they haven't exploded into a full flood is because it's the community's vote, and not a unilateral action by PGI.
Hell I would bet cashy money that some of the people posting here would have made threads saying "You should have made a poll to ask us for our opinion. You guys don't play the game as often as we do."
Am I being pessimistic about the community? Maybe, but I've been here for almost three years, and have seen how these forums work. I look at the patch notes, and can predict down to a T what threads will be popping up for the next few weeks. You've been here long enough to know that my hypotheses have a very solid chance of coming true.

Put's the power in the players had to fix size issues they find most important to fix. If your pick doesn't make the cut, tough luck - the community has spoken.
And yeah, if this was a choice that PGI just made and the wrong mech was select, well, all hell would break loose. So smart choice by the devs to make this a community choice

This thread is actually quite relavent if you consider the facts that it's one year old and just now coming to fruition, and that rescales are overdue. Face it, a year ago it was decided to perform rescales. Now, they are due within a few patches.
This thread is now deserving some spotlight.
