After listening to Bryan talk about the Wolf Dragoons in the recent Community Warfare reveal, I was thinking how epic it would be if PGI launched a new project when they finally add this mercenary unit to the game. Would you buy this hypothetical project if PGI offered it? This would be a good way to introduce the more restricted 'Mechs in MWO.

haha, NO. why? Easy.

the way it was stated in the Powerpoint (yes, that was a PP presentation) is that you basically grind everything to go to the Dragoons.

Bad Time... and very game breaking.

Relations would be a better course with trying to keep every faction happy while moving from one state to another:

IE: A Davion Veteran with a reputation of 150/100 decides to move, choosing Steiner may drop the reputation to 145/100 while choosing Liao will drop it to 80/100. Creating a situation of factions that will have positive and negative effects based on your actions. Wolf's Dragoons should be a reward not based on the blind-grind but on balanced and smart gameplay.

We know that WD is the "Endgame" based on PGI, but it should be "revocable" (**** enough people off and drop your status).
---

I hate to say it but in an Online game, there should not be an end-game, THERE SHOULDN'T.

"OK, I made it to the Wolf's Dragoons... what now?"

You had me at $15 per tier :)

Question from a guy who doesn't know lore: If Wolf's Dragoons is Clan-related, would it already be time to use clan mechs? Given a choice I'd go with firemoth and stomcrow and maybe a dire wolf.

If we're enjoying 6 months or a year of purely house on house community warfare, then one more IS mech package would be fun.

Given that my favourite merc unit is the dragoons I would, I'd like to see the imp and annihilator in game.

hehe just reading the variants of the Annihilator:
  • ANH-1E - This field-expedient refit was used by the Dragoons after the Battle of Misery. All of the autocannons were removed and replaced with four PPCs and two additional Medium Lasers. The ANH-1E also carried forty-one heat sinks, enough to fire the main weapons continually. BV (2.0) = 1,625[4]

Not with the ghost heat....

Two Assaults (am I correct)?

Maybe a Mercenary Pack. L/M/H/A from 4 of the more illustrious merc units, one each: WD, assault; KH, heavy, GDL (or whatever), medium; ELH, light. That might be more viable and more enticing to more people.....

You do realize that both the Imp and Annihilator are 100 ton Mechs? They're not going to do a package with two Assaults. And the Flea is already announced, so there would be less of a buzz about that one than just another announced Light. If they were to do something like this, which they won't for various reasons, I see the Mechs being more along the lines of these:

Tier 1: Falcon
(FLC-4P special variant, FLC-4N, FLC-4Nb-PP, or FLC-4Nb-PP2 standard variants)

Tier 2: Hoplite plus Tier 1
(HOP-4D special variant, HOP-4C and HOP-4B standard variants)

Tier 3: Lancelot plus Tier 1 & 2
(LNC25-01 special variant, LNC25-01X and LNC25-03 standard variants)

Tier 4: Imp plus Tier 1, 2, & 3
(IMP-3E special variant, IMP-1B and IMP-1C standard variants)

I chose the Lancelot because it's kind of a forgotten Mech in a lot of ways, and the WD's didn't bring a specific Heavy Mech to the IS. The Heavy bracket has a lot of options though, from the Executioner, Black Knight, Grasshopper...

If the railguns come with targeting assistance, I'm in.

I wouldn't purchase this, not because of a lack of faith in PGI or the game. I just don't want any of those 'mechs or Wolf Dragoon stuff...

Now sell me a house Davion or house Steiner project with some 'official' paint schemes and mechs. I'd be all over that. ;)

Nope. The only packs I'm interested in would be another Phoenix pack (Phoenix Hawk, Rifleman, Warhammer & Marauder) or a Royal package which would give us a bunch of the SLDF "Royal" variants for the mechs already released.

Also: to hell with the Hoplite.

Aren't Wolf's Dragoons basically a Mary Sue Have-Your-Cake-And-Eat-It-Too deal that people really only want to be 'part of' in order to get access to shiney Clan toys on the Inner Sphere side?

You "migrate" to the Clans, of course.

You got to get nuked... and what remains of your troops make a head less charge toward Terra and die in Orbit of Mars - and that what made it to the planet - will fight a battle that would made it to legends - but in the end there will be no one left to tell your story - because the Word wont :D

With all due respect, I don`t think you listened closely enough to what was said. He pretty much said that you need to grind all 6 IS houses to max loyalty to gain access to the Wolf`s Dragoons.

Now, we do not know whether or not this is set in stone, that is true. But thBryan`S tone and teh reasoning preceding the naming of teh unit seemed pretty definite.... :D

Five IS Houses- FRR doesn't really count, WD never worked for them or any of the other "minor" factions. But basically it seems like it will be just a LP grind for a cool camo/paint scheme.

I'll never buy into any pack that uses the same formula as the project phoenix packs, i'd much prefer the formula used in the founders program.

It does say "continuously" not "simultaneously". Obviously requires chain-fire. :)

40 SHS keeps a 4 PPC Mech 100% cool every turn, standing still. Heat neutrality was a thing for a lot of stock builds in TT, but not MWO, nope that is an evil thing!
