You can make simple experiment - 2 clan LPL + 2clan ERML. Now activate testing ground Forest Colony Snow and shoot 4 lasers simultaneously. Remember the heat level (first experiment).
Now shoot 2CLPL and after cooling down to 0 shoot 2ERML (second). Remember results. Sum second results.

Then compare first and second.
My calculations (19 DHS StormCrow):

first experiment: 37% heat level
second experiment: 28% heat level

There is NO official ghost heat at this lasers combination, in theory...

Another experiment - hidden ghost heat generation at mech's movement. Just move mech and watch. Some chasises more affected by this some less...

Are you calculating in the cooling during the firing duration?

Everybody knows heats worse when you're moving, and worst when you're JJing.

I don't think it's ghost heat. Depends on your cooling efficiency. You are probably just running a hot loadout if it is in the 25%-30% range.

Dissipation is constant, no matter how many or few weapons you fire.

Since dissipation is constant, you cannot really add together the heat from separate firings and get the same result as if you fired them at once - as you found out. The more heat you generate, the less of an effect you get from the dissipation during the beam duration.

Here's how the math works out:

CLPL is 10 heat over a 1.12 second beam, CERML is 6 heat over a 1.15 second beam.

You run a XL330 with 19 DHS, that's 10 * 2.0 + 9 * 1.4 = 20 + 12.6 = 32.6 / 10 = 3.26 dissipation; fully elited it's 15% more, or 4.14/s dissipation.

Over the course of the CLPL beam, that's 4.14 * 1.12 = 4.6 heat dissipated.
Over the course of the CERML beam, it's 4.14 * 1.15 = 4.7 heat dissipated.

Your heat cap is 30 + 32.6 = 62.6, fully elited it's 20% more, or 75.12.

So firing all those four weapons should put you at
(20 + 12 - 4.7) / 75.12 = 27.3 / 75.12 = 36.3% heat, which corresponds rather well with the 37% you reported.

Firing just the two CLPLs should put you at
(20 - 4.6) / 75.12 = 20.5% heat

and firing just the two CERML should put you at
(12 - 4.7) / 75.12 = 9.7% heat.

Which works out to 30.2% heat, rather close to the 28% you reported.

This HBR-PRIME, stripped of everything but the armor and weapons with full elites, will sink 2.78 HPS and you have a heat cap of 65.04

Fire two cLPLs and you'll go up to 40% heat, but by the end of the cLPLs firing, you're already down to 36% heat.

Fire the three cERMLs and you'll go up to 28% heat and by the end of the burn you're down to 23%.

The combined total of the two percents is 68%, and at the end of their burn your heat level is 63%.

But you're adding up the 36% and the 23% of the separate firings and getting 59%.

You're heat dissipation is constant, while your heat generation is not.

EDIT:

Also, my numbers are off, I used 13 heat for the cLPLs. They're actually 10 heat, 13 damage.

See above for Maths and logic.

As for movement, it generates 0.2 H/s at max throttle, which is just removed from your heat dissipation. 2 heat over 10 seconds, just as TT.

That's Battle Tech heat multipliers based on number of weapons fired simultaneously. You can avoid it by firing smaller groups. This was not good enough for MWO so they added their own Ghost Heat.

...and no, it's really there, the OP is correct, but it is Canon.

All large-class lasers are linked, for both Inner Sphere and Clan.

It's been that way for a long time, and even Smurfy says so.

My new calculation shoes 35% so it it possible 37%... I'm not taking heat dissipation in head. Thanks for comments,

Pretty sure this is just a product of the heat dissipating during the burn time of the lasers. You are effectively doubling the amount of heat dissipation because you are firing one set of lasers after the other.

Unfortunately, CLPL and CERML are not linked for ghost heat. If they were clan mechs could no longer abuse laser loadouts.
