Just give them one free timber, problem solved. Giving them non meta mechs will just make them rage quit.

I'd love for new players to get to pick a faction and get to pick one from one of two mechs specific to that faction:

Join House Steiner, choose from:
-Griffin
-Zeus

Join House Davion, choose from:
-Centurion
-Jagermech

Join Clan Wolf, choose from:
-Adder
-Timberwolf

Join Clan Jade Falcon, choose from :
-Kit Fox
-Summoner

And you can do this once for each tech base, letting new players pick a Clan mech and an IS mech for them to own. And they come bone stock. They still have access to the Trial Mechs (that hopefully aren't utter garbage anymore), but they OWN two mechs. Similar to how WoT does it, giving players a starting tank from each tech tree.

I had an idea quite some time ago. I want to be able to share my account to a new player to let them try out gameplay with actually decent mechs.

One of the things I think a fair share of units has pushed for is to have Unit owned mechs. I'm swimming in CBills and mechs. I have about a dozen different mechs and weight-classes I'd donate to the unit if that meant new players could use those instead of trials.

I think they should be started with trial mechs that don't suck.

Looking at the champion build votes I have my doubts we'll ever see those. Half of those builds have severe design flaws - way too hot, ammo in CT or simply no real back armor. And then those are the community chosen build which makes me scratch my head

Man, why do people always correlate beginner things with "give them the shiittiest one."???

If I was a beginner, and I got a beginner pack full of awful things, I would just quit the game because it wouldn't be fun, and I'd be dying constantly from people that are both better than me and have better mechs than me.

but dont forget, PGI cant give them urbies/DW/timberlakes. WHY you ask ? because, they wouldnt spent a penny then on the game, if they got the best mechs from the begining, dont you think ?

I made a new account last week and grinded through the 25 cadet bonuses to see what it was like.

The trial maddog has something like 10 unused armor on each side torso and 20 unused armor on the front center torso.

It has has two LRM20 launchers with something like 400 LRM ammo, about enough for 10 alphas.

Other trial mechs are equipped with PPC's and weapons that only experienced pilots are likely to use effectively.

The old spider, highlander and dragon trial mechs were better imo.

Its not Unused armor. More weapons to kill faster!

Check this out.

Newbie enters game after watching awsome Intro movie. Then a long read thing not to much different than the famous Star Wars movie intro with a breif description of the Battletech story.(right now players get a giant green PLAY NOW button GRRRR  )(the famous star wars read intro thing was put there for the EXACT same reasons this game needs it)

Then player has chance to make their character, then a story based tutorial starts after leaving the awsome cyberpunk "pilot quaters".(Im thinking Dues Ex HR player apartment here)

After the tutorial is over the player gets ONE starting mech based on character creation.

NO trial mechs for low rank players. No trial mechs for none faction players. ( this isnt to be mean its for the sim and realism anyone can figure out why. then newbies couldnt troll the star map either etc.)(stick to the SIM and things and problems can potentially figure themselves out much like the problem that newbies create for themselves and others on the star map here and other examples in the above short description)

Those asking for 4 free mechs for new players for example hate this game and think players are idiots or drooling morons, one or the other :), like the guy that put the giant green "PLAY NOW" button as focus for game design.

1) MW2 intro is out alrdy, still not beaten
2) like custom pilot, sims5 plugin ?
3) this will be against f2P model. they must get low mechs, to spend $$$$$, dont forget.

I think PGI can use statistic om most popular builds of high ELO players ant make new champions - meta champions: 10 most popular high-ELO mech configs of last month.

Its not against the free to play model in the least. Free to play is about offering a good product and successfull product in the end, thats all that counts, bottom line.

The very short descption above solves many short coming and problems this game has. Many are critical.

A complete NOOB may log in press the giant green "PLAY NOW" button and think wtf is this. Thats what this game currently has aside from the repulsive title screen Mechwarrior Online has now.

Oh ya replace the repulsive title screen while they are at it.

You may or may not be right but I will say this much, alhlough players are not share holders in this game, a restaurant or any business cant legally turn on a fire hose to get rid of current customers to make room for new customers. HAHA

Although they may get away with it once, maybe but I wouldnt bet on it.

Customers have every right to expect a first rate product and service even in todays video game market packed full of scammers.

On the flip side(of the coin), Companies can expect customers to pay for an excellent product. F2P is nothing but a demonstration of the product. If they let F2P players play indefinately and access all content, then thats generous. Giving them 4 free mechs for example is worse than desperate, its an insult to their own game. to stay on topic.

No. You start with nothing, get smashed for 3k matches and learn to play. You learn to join a group, use Teamspeak, coordinate, use cover, know the functionality of weapon systems etc. This isn't government welfare Mechwarrior. Learn, leave or lose.
