Great patch except for the new collision sounds.

I hit a wall... Clank!

I hit a curb.. Clank!

I hit a stone... Clank!

I walk up to a higher platform on the bog... Clankity clank clank.

It's too much and they are as loud as when you get hit by enemy fire. Plus it makes me feel like I'm piloting a trash can. The only time I should feel that way is in my Urbies!

I have to agree with Danth, it's too much. I'm all for imersion, and I like that there are different sounds for impacts with different materials (rock impact sounds cool), but it's over the top (volume & quantity). I dont think there shoud be impact sounds (at least not full volume) for piloting over scaleable objects. Full volume impact sounds should be reserved for when you actually run into something. There should also be more variety in sounds for impacts with each materiel since no two impacts would sound exactly the same. Kind of monotonous as is. Also, it might just be me but the sound quality for these impacts seems pretty low compared to all of the other sounds in the game. Sticks out like a sore thumb, to my ears.

Hopefully they plan to develope this feature more fully. As is it's somewhat annoying. Not "find that module" annoying but annoying

If you collide with Mechs you don't get a clank clank ding ding... i would far prefer this so player learn not to collide with mech over random walls, pebbles etc..

Actually I think this helps mech piloting so, you know when your mechs geometery is hitting a wall or whatnot.
Because it is hard to actually see without going to 3PV.

Though... Different sounds would help though.

Love it, think the sounds need improving I mean the trees sound a bit rubbish and what about scraping noises if you continue to run against buildings?

Love bowling the statues and trees in river city :P

Agreed. Really all PGI needs to do to make me less annoyed is make the sounds quieter. Also, keep the metal on metal sound for things like mechs and lightposts, but for buildings make it more of a dull scraping sound and for trees make the noise more of a thunk, like metal on wood would really sound like.

I heard that on some small fast mechs like commando you basically hear clank on every step no matter where. This seems to be a bug but other than this, the clanking is just great. And like I said in another thread, should include MINOR damage as well.

it's like an improved seismic sensor => stand still and you'll hear them coming ;)

we need a noice level indicator like in the thief games!

On Topic: i like the dangling - though running around in PB or JR gets you a lot of those ;)

More clanking on MECH-to-Mech collisions.

The sound should resonated a bit more, it is a bit too close too ERPPC

Nah. Breaking trees and hitting rocks sounds what they should do. I hear dirt and stones pebbling off the rocks when hitting. Dont get how breaking the trees sounds... metallic? But I do agreed they could uppity the amount of sounds per type of collision though.

Beef up the sound if you hit another mech... make it so, that it sounds annoying so people will try to avoid it. :)

So you look angry at all the new collision sounds, dunno why you started a new thread because there was already one called Angry At All The New Collision Sounds :P

But whatever... agree that a few adjsutements would be welcome, I just played a few matches and whatever if I played an Assault or my tiny Locust, those clunky sounds all sounded the same. I thought that from a tiny chassis some sounds would be more high pitched while huge chassis low toned.

And of course I don't want those to interfere with my warhorns... already that they never fixed the original problem and now they add more sounds so more chance for the problem to occur.

Look, there are people down there by my feet. Where's the sound of popping human bodies as we walk across them. A scream and muffled splosh would work fine. Hey immersion, right?
