As a locust pilot myself, I'd advice against this tactic, especially now with the fixed hitreg...
But "Audentes Fortuna Iuvat". Which, BTW, should be written in every locust's cockpit.
There are many things I would also advise against in a Locust, but I have used this tactic many of times with them, and depending on the battle... it can be very effective. One of the times I did this, I crested a sand hill and came across 10 enemy mechs. I had my team right behind me, and I charged into a dire wolf and several other enemy mechs. I popped off two alpha's and ran behind them ducking into a mountain. Several of them tried to focus me down, but none of them chased because right as I got behind cover and waited to come back on and through their flanks, my team rolled over the hill and started to engage them. I came back through hitting the dire with three more alphas from the rear and killed him. Once again, several of them started to focus on me and let me team focus them down. I ran like hell and got back over the sand dune, then waited a few seconds and came back into them head on.
This one one of the best matches I had ever played in with my Locust... and lived to tell the tail. By the time I had ripped through their lines 4 times, I was down to 48%, and had killed 4 of their mechs and got 500+ damage. Fun times...
I haven't played much since the patch yesterday.... I will take this info into consideration.
The only thing we Locust pilots have to fear is..... fear itself!
