For example:
-Vinyl Scratch: pulse boats
-Pinkie Pie: SRM/LRM or trolly builds
-Applejack: brawlers
-Rarity: Gauss and lasers
-Twilight: laser vomit
-CMC: light mechs
There are quite a few exceptions of course. Like my King Crabs being Zoidberg, my Panther being Pink Panther, and a whale named Moby ****.

A friend of mine named his Firestarter "little ****." Been waiting a while for that particular nick name to become relevant.

Raven (2xERLL, ECM): Ghost - the ecm and long range lasers make it a silent killer
Commando (ERLL, ML, SML): Aggressor - its a killer, a very aggressive mech, once locked on its target is really difficult to get rid of
Spider (12xJJ, 2xMPL): Ikarus 2B - the third iteration of a flying mech, what it lacks in firepower it makes up for in unprecedented mobility, special high mobility tactics must be used to employ successfully
Hunchback (AC20, MPL): Uppercut - a quick jab with the mpl and an uppercut to knock enemies out via ac20
Dragon (AC10, 4xMPL) at 106 kp/h: Striker - it goes in, delieveres its payload and gets out, a fast striker
Hellbringer (GAUSS, ERLL, 2xERML): Neomancer - an upgrade of a similar equiped Summoner know as the Necromancer, it uses "energy drain" to devour the life essence of its enemies and "death bolt" to finish them off
Battlemaster (2xLPL, 6xMPL): Pulsar - extremely mobile assault, using pulse lasers to bring destruction to the enemies
Banshee (4xLPL, 4xMPL): Blueshift - this is walking death, most pilots realize far too late the massive destruction this mech brings in the form blue pulsing rays of death supplemented by mpls
