I'M NOT CRAZY! YOU'RE CRAZY!

The trees are clearly a super secret way for PGI to work on syncing knock down locations of an object! Fine you say, trees appear knocked down in the same place on everyone's map, big deal This is a big fracking deal. Know what was removed because PGI couldn't sync their locations when knocked down? Mech collisions and knock downs. The trees are obviously just a way for PGI to develop and collect live server data on their knockdown code in preparation for mech collisions without the community bitching at them while they work on the kinks.

WELL I'M ON TO YOU PGI! I KNOW THE TRUTH! I WILL NOT BE IGNORED! NOR WILL I BE SILENT (unless I get free mechs)!

PS: If this isn't true, then PGI should lie and say that yes that was the plan and use these assets to develop that code. 'Cause my dragon wants to tackle some clanner scum.

I'm split on collisions. Yes, immersion. Yes, lore. But if you wanted to make sure nobody ever piloted a light mech again, that might be the way to do it.

Also, the <clonk> sounds when you bump into stuff is a conspiracy to make players more aware of their collisions to prepare us for when proper collisions are implemented in the game, to make the transition smoother.

The truth is out there, sheeple.

I get it... the present method of bumpercar light piloting will take a hit... Sad reality of piloting a lightlike a Loon IMHO.

That said, collisions affect all mechs no?

A light at speed should be able to knock down even an assault... Not even mentioning the reality that under knock-down rules a lot of mechs, to include all classes should risk falling on their arses when they drop from above certain heights.

Untrue. The same argument was made in closed beta and it did not deter competent pilots from going light and kicking ass.

There was hilarity with Jenners jumping and hitting the cherry red CTs of Atlases and killing them. There were problems with the coding of where all the bits ended up which resulted in teleporting mechs that most found disorienting. You can see the ridiculous artifact of this with lights today charging straight in to people to benefit on the teleport placement, without the knockdown.

Not necessarily like a loon. Against much bigger mechs, point-blank is the best way to avoid those guns. Eh well. Adapt and survive. Or pilot a heavy like everyone else.

I remember those days. Fondly. It's not my piloting i'm concerned about. It's the fat teammate behind me that doesn't care to go around me that I'm more worried about.

I agree with Lugh, in the days of knockdowns I and other pilots I knew would dive into thick clusters of mechs with the intention of 'tying their shoes'. With a bit of practice we would zip in and twist through the cluster and as they would try to stomp us down they would quickly loose track of the positions of their mates as well as themselves and end up crashing into one another as we zipped away and reinforcements would show up and fire into the piles.

One of my best memories is when I failed to move from behind an Atlas in time as he backed over me and realized I had been downed, he began to walk back and forth over me until I was dead. He victoriously exclaimed "Die Jenner scum!" and we all had a laugh over it.

I remember backing an Atlas into a Jenner that tried to squeeze between me and a rock wall on Forest Colony and killing it.

I also remember watching my Hunchback flip head over heels after taking a full speed Jenner to the knee.

I agree that it would separate the good light pilots from the bad however... survival of the fitest style. Good idea or not? *shrug*

I was hoping for something more controversial... like the fact that we are knocking down hundreds of trees per match and that the Forest Colony re-work is going to have massive trees.
