How the Trebuchet lost to the Centurion or Shadow Hawk I will never understand.
I also don't get how we can only vote for one when 5 will be chosen.

Something to keep in mind while making these votes. The Nova is almost twice the size it should be

Only problem with having just 1 vote ppl will just pick the extremes or their favorites and the other ones will not get much votes

Why Pixels?
Poly count, size and shape matter more than Pixels.

I mean if you are willing to provide the volume of these mechs. i'd be glad to plot them. Trust me, a lot of ppl have tried. Geometry overlap, and there are lots of holes in the mech spaces.

That said, there is a problem in trying to test volume cubic parameters as the models are now, I "exploded" the Nova's torso in Wings to show you something that is problematic, both because you would need to close ALL pieces like this to get a good estimate, and because you would have overlapping volumes, leading to higher numbers than what it should be.

Polycount isn't too relevant to any of this you can have something with 4 polys be bigger than anything ever.

But its a pretty good chart. The trend matches the mechs already made by PGI, all the 55ton mechs are outliers as expected, plus it matches the votes ppl selected as outliers in part 1.

Its because ppl only have 1 vote. U will get an overlap of votes for the favorites, and then the others left behind may be a toss up

One vote? WTF? It should be at least one for every weight class.

We're only able to vote for 1 of the 5?

Wow, Tina Benoit really crippler crossface'd our ability to choose.

Poly count, size and shape matter more than Pixels.

Pixels is a quantifiable quality that actually matters. When you're shooting a mech, what matters is how many pixels it takes up on your screen. Obviously it's not as simple as that, as things like height, ratio of arms to torsos to legs, hardpoints... that all matters, but on the fundamental level, it comes down to screen real estate - how much mech you have available to shoot at.

Volume is slightly more problematic. Some mechs like the Blackjack and Stormcrow have some very thin spots. They take up a lot of space on your screen, but they're volumetrically less significant. Mechs like the Awesome are barndoors, but they don't have very much depth too them. A volumetric analysis of the Awesome might not be the best metric for comparison with other mechs of its class because the fact of the matter is that it's wide as a barn and takes up a lot of space on your screen.

The pixel count chart above adds together and averages the pixel counts of mech profiles both from the front and from the side. Not the best solution, as perhaps front should be weighted higher than side, but consider how the King Crab is only as large as it is because it is huge from a side-on profile (or top down), and not all that large from the front.

LIke others have said, why not one vote per weight class?! You show me the top three per weight class and then basically throw that out the window. Weird.

We just need to make sure the 5th most voted mech is an eight-way tie. ^_^

I've expected at least 3 votes given to me so that I wouldn't have to struggle over which of these are "the one". Kinda disappointed. All these poles, and now I see a mech in top, which I don't even played once, with little to no attention to other offenders. It would've made more sence with the initial per-class polls, but here we go again.

Why do PGI always has to do things in reverse methodology?

Screw it, still going with Catapults...

This is the problem with letting the community have a say. I mean how the fracking hell do people not see that the dragon needs a remodel more than every other mech other than the awesome? It's needed since the very beginning of the game for pete's sake.

Seriously.. the grass hopper? It's tall sure but it's not a walking death trap like the dragon.

Awesome.

I don't care if it's 'in scale' with other 80 tonners or the average expected overall size, outside of the victor all other 80 tonners are complete wastes. 80 tonners in general are too large.
