I'm not sure I'd be willing to PAY for pve though.......I already own several fine single player games, Pillars of Eternity the most recent example of.
Plus if it pulls people away from the multiplayer then it'd be effectively killing what I enjoy-meeting new people and teaming up with them. If more and more stick to pve where does that leave a player like me?
If MWO has to have it to survive..ok but if it helps to kill off my enjoyment and the main reasons I play, I'll try everything I can for a refund. I loaded up MWO to play in groups and team, fighting for Kurita-not to play alone!
Enough has been done already to scupper community building in this game as it is.... :(

Perhaps the rewards system should scale, the bigger the group you are in the more you get with CW being the most rewards of all? That's kinda how WT's pve/mp system works. The more effort you put in-the more you can make.

THat would then be up to PGI to make PVP a little more enticing to play. Right now, between the grind, NPE, lack of any ability for buddies to play outside of Clan wars, the curb stomp fest of CW.......why would anyone want to play PVP? PVP matches are just deathball, instant PPD derp fests where not even the heaviest or most armored mechs last more then 5seconds under fire.

PVE would kill PVP in this game, just the same as it might in Armored Warfare because it will be far, far, far, far, far more enjoyable. See, if the point of a game is to have fun, then make it so. No one likes super fast deaths like we have in this game. If there is any draw to Mechwarrior its that we are in big robots that supposedly have a degree of durability. We are walking tanks, that in the current stage of Mechwarrior, have less durability then a paper bag. My human in FPS take about 4-8 rounds, PLanetside 2 its like 12-18 rounds, or, just a second or so of incoming fire. We drive mechs cuz we supposedly are ALOT tougher then that.

Even if TT games end in just a couple turns, that would mean, 1v1 it took that mech 30-40s of RL time to kill the mech. Yet, no mech in this game takes that long to kill.

PVE would also get rid of the derp teams, AFK, TKs, DCs, grind drama, it would make it much easier on NPE as they could get in and play with their buddies and NOT have to worry about dropping in against Lords and 228 and being curb stomped, which, oh, removes any fun of playing.......

Really, PVP itself will obsolete itself vs PVE. Honestly, PGI could do almost everything right for PVP and if a PVE came into this game, I honestly would never touch PVP again. Sure, I would drop money on the game to master some mechs or buy some more for PVE use, but PVP? naw...its just not that fun. Ive PVP'd alot of games, ive done mostly fine in PVP, but really, PVP is just becoming no fun in alot of games anymore. Toss in the 3minute 3-12 wipes either way, the obsession this game has over meta everything, super fast TTK and yeah, its pretty boring. Plus maps are tiny, tactics and strats basically are huddle up and walk around in a blob........just yeah, boring. IDK how groups can do the same thing 20,000 times and NOT eventually just get so bored to tears with it.

I think it will work the other way over time. New people will come and do PVE and then want more of a challenge and move to PVP.

Implying pvp is a challenge with a system like ELO playing God.

You see, that has not made me feel any better at all. I don't want a pve only game either......guess my wallet will stay firmly shut then:) I want team and group play, I want to get to know all the other units in my faction and play with them-interact with others.
I already have TSW and SWTOR to do what you just said:) Oh and Warframe to EXACTLY what you just said!

Where does your statement leave a player like me? the only thing I can stomach over what you said is the TTK-it Is way too quick. If it becomes what you just said, my boredom level will be exceeded super fast-unless it ends up at arma3 complexity...
Otherwise there is just not enough to it to warrant my attention, or my interest and ultimately my wallet.

All those games you mentioned don't have big stompy robots otherwise you wouldn't be here. I'm not working to sell a single person on the PVE. I just know it's needed for steam and the survival of this game. If you're wallet is always shut maybe your mouth should follow suit.

I've paid to support this game because I believe in the team and the people behind it. I tell them feedback from friends and new users I come across and while doing that I also give solutions with that feedback. One thing that never works though many think it does it threats.

Hmm, that was a post that was out of line matey. I have a legitimate concern over the direction this could go. I've said no more than any prosolo guy has said. Yet that is fine but me voicing my own fears and concerns is not?
Note that I have made suggestions here on the pve aspect to make it work. I'd LIKE it as an option -but only if it doesn't kill what I enjoy.
Now, why do you make a post bashing me? I'm perfectly entitled to make the statements I did and at no point have I personally attacked you.
I've paid in excess of $1500 into this game, because I believed in it too. But I won't pay to support something that excludes me, perfectly reasonable no?
The ONLY reason I'm still here is because of the friends I have made along the way-nothing more. the game as it is, isn't enough. The draw is the social aspect-something which a nasty portion of our "community" seems dead set on ending if they can, does that include you?
As for your threats comment...really? The prosolos and ubercasuals are doing that daily-don't see you making snarky posts on their comments.......?

Have you read these forums?!?!?

One thing that has been made perfectly clear over and over, anything that challenges the non-team player has to be removed, changed, nerf'd, or options to skip.

What I find absololutely amazing is how the troll brigade can manage to turn every topic in to a concern over players wanting to be in a guild or not? It is also amazing how transparent and desperate this constant trollish behavior is. Show some dignity.

I apologize for being rude, but this looks so bad it demands to be called out.

If they want to release a MW5 campagin mode I'm all for it as long as it's epic awesomeness. Plus it lets my son play without me feeling bad for having a 5 year old on a team and then have to help out insulting his "I can do it" attitude

Don't fall in to pgi balancing logic.

Making single player pve bad is not the same as making pvp better.

The fact that cw and other pvp aspects and community aspects are bad isn't a reason to gimp pve, it's a reason to make pvp better.

In my opinion there are 3 types of players. Ones who only want to PvP. Ones who only want to PvE... And ones who want to do both.

MWO being PvP only is denying themselves an entire customer segment and under-utilizing a second.

The language for-profit companies understand best is money. With that said, some would say I am a whale. I have purchased the best of every mech pack released so far except the IIC and purchased 315,000 MC... Yet for every $1 I spent on MWO I spent $4-5 on Neverwinter Online where I only PvE. If MWO had PvE (lots of PvE XP to convert) and more things to purchase maybe those dollars would have gone to PGI. Maybe in the future they can but it is all in PGI's hands.

Co-op PvE is a great way to introduce team work and basic game mechanics in my opinion. World Of Warships makes you play co-op PvE before allowing you to unlock PvP. I think it provides a nice learning environment for new players. I know I was happy to not be thrown into PvP on my very first game before I knew any controls.

With Co-op PvE I would not need to bring my A game, I could run new chassis and variants for the first time, and could run experimental mechs without worrying about handicapping my team much or at all.

Co-op PvE in Armored Warfare is done even better with difficulty levels, mission objectives, timed bonus secondary objectives, and personal objectives.

Imagine in the videos below if at the beginning you were dropped in from a dropship and instead of just appearing. Rather than 5 tanks you had a lance of 4 IS mechs (or a star of 5 for Clans) as your team. Also imagine at the end that you had to walk a short ways to a landed dropship to finish the mission. In addition instead of modern enemy tanks imagine BattleTech tracked, wheeled, and hover vehicles (and maybe a lance or 2 of VTOLs) facing you. Finally note how simple the AI is yet provides a challenge:

Oil Fields:

Refinery:

PvE - Good, Bad, Or Ugly? (Player commentary)

I suggest Googleing "Armored Warfare PvE" for more videos as there are a lot out there.

I gotta agree that I think PvE would be a good thing for MWO.

Let me break it down for you. They have focused on pvp the whole time this game has been out! Shifting to add pve will not take away the reasons you already play this game because they won't be going anywhere.
It's time to reach out to another set of wallets and fans that battetech was known for and that wasn't pvp.
I didn't insult you just say if your wallet is closed your mouth should be too.

If you knew one thing about me you would find those group of friends you love to play with you would still be limited to 4 of them if it wasn't for me and some of my mates on here.

They DON'T deserve more wallets open. They need to focus on making what we have something I will play religiously again. I was a devote mechwarrior until CW was utter trash. Now I will root for this game to fail in every way until the real issues are addressed. PvE development just takes away from what I want improved.

Nothing trollish at all. I have genuine concerns what it'd mean for the game, note I did make several suggestions on this thread and on the forums about pve and what I think would be positive for it.
Unfortunately this will always involve an element of what I said as it's an online game, and online games live and die by their community. As pve doesn't directly build communities it can have an effect, that's all I meant.
But if there is yet another undercurrent of prosolo that too needs addressing-take Imperious' comment as a prime example.

And, no offense taken you were perfectly polite:)

Funny PVE doesn't build community... So skyrim, metal gear, old mechwarrior games had no community? Weird I think we live on different planets. Guess all these people started liking mechs out of the blue lucky us. Sarna must have just been built thank god for pvp!

PVE communities are more likely to work as a team that a pvp one. Never seen a coop campaign where your friend played on the AI's team.

I don't know. War Thunder and World of Warships have very competent PvE, but people are not flocking to them other than practicing and experiencing historical scenarios. The basic attraction of testing yourself a human and killing someone who is live and not a robot still lives and is a very powerful motive. This is basically why PvP exists in massive online games whereas games that center on PvE flourish in a limited way.

PvP can easily be favored by adding more rewards to it. People want the recognition.

I do think the TTK on this game is now too short. Either you have to beef up the TTK on a single life, or support it with a limited number of respawns.

The game needs a limited respawn mechanic on its public queue. That is my opinion. By limited I mean either 3 or 4 lives, or use a ticket system like in Battlefield that earns you a right to respawn.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:
If this game had a solid PvE component, I would play nothing else.

Additionally, I would buy mechs, that I nornally wouldn't, to play in PvE.
Example: I wouldn't bother with a Vindicator or any Medium under 50 tons for that matter. I'm probably not going to buy the Black Knight. Not interested in the Awesome, Zeus or Mauler.
In Pub, I just don't care about them because there are chassis that are simply so much better.
But in PvE, I certainly would entertain using then to fullfil mission imposed weight restrictions.

Being able to have some fun PvE Co-Op mission with my buddies would be a Godsend, honestly.

I just can not understand how can PVE be ''mean'' for the game? You do not want more people? more money? which can improve the game further.
The second day I played this game, I opened a thread about how bad the new player experience this game has and need a PVE mod. Ridicilous tutorials, getting killed in the 2nd minute of the game does not teach me anything. I am a hardcore gamer and this game has the worst new player experiance I had my whole life and If I was not a MW fan, I would just quit it.
If you want to play with more than 3k ppl on MWO, you have to add PVE and It is also have to be free, there is no way around it. Pve is mainly for new players and for the ppl who got nervious at PVP and thrust me its not a small number. The biggest online game is League of legends right now and %15 of its player base never or rarely play versus players. Without nonpayer players, there would be no payers.
If MWO wants to go bigger, they should stop making CLAN/RESISTANCE 32454 packs and focus on this.
I am realy shocked how people can not see this.
Even an AI vs player mod with the current maps will have an huge impact before steam.

People are actually arguing against PvE?
