Small question: As i'm installing from scratch the PTS, would copying the production release's files in the PTS folder speed up the installation process without issues, or would it break everything?

IF I leave more than one server enabled in the selection window, how will I see later during launch of a game on which server this game is hosted ?

Quite probably by looking at the ping you have during the match loading screen (Unless you live in Greenland or Iceland).

Well thats what I wanted to raise really, europeans dont really need a dedicated server, but the australians for example really do.

keep in mind, the west europeans, middle east, and west asians and russians really would like a european server instead of an Australian server...

btw the whole talk of the Oceanic server really makes me worried

I live in New Zealand, And the server could be in 1 of 2 places.

Singapore, and Australia.

Australia = oh... my... god... first time I can play a multiplayer game with less then 200 ping?!?!? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!?

Singapore = less then a 10 ping different then north American and European server...

You can sense how I feel about the situation.

So I expect difference with ping 3 times lower. :P

PGI... you subliminal masters of mayhem... did you intentionally put the Awesome in that pic of the Region Selection boxes since you think European servers are an awesome addition???

Smooth move!

If I remember in the latest Town Hall EU servers were pretty simple to implement as the existing supplier already has EU infrastructure but Oceanic is harder as PGI will have to negotiate a new supplier for that. I might be wrong here, Russ did ramble a bit!

I'm very pleased to hear PGI is finally moving to support their large international player base. Regional server support will greatly increase relations with the community and improve gameplay for our international friends in Europe... just wait you Asian and Oceanic folks, patience will pay off ;)

Public Test is now live! Ping stats look great so far for players in Europe.
Here in the office I was at 167 (standard is ~80), still very playable.

Don't forget to post all of your feedback for this Public Test in the dedicated sub-forum!

If you provide a report in the forum, please remember to include the following information:
  • Your country
  • Your ISP
  • Your typical in-match ping and/or connection behavior on Live servers
  • Your in-match ping and/or connection behavior during a PTS match
  • A summary of your experience, such as how hit-reg and connection status 'felt' during the match

Standard ping for me playing from Sweden is 120.

Now, on the EU servers, it's 30.

I feel the difference. Damage registers where I watch my lasers hitting, and that's in a fast moving light.

Okay. After a couple of matches the average ping ratio is 30 - 50 (tendency 35+/-). Aiming succefully has become a lot easier. Connections seem pretty stable - which was true most of the time during matches on overseas servers as well. Feels like players reaction times on both sides have improved, but that may be just a "felt" difference. It's fun! :P
