I have an odd issue with my bluetooth in ear phones.

I have the Jaybirds Bluebud Xs and whenever I boot up MW:O the sound goes from clear and crisp to a tinny skype call from a grammar phone level of quality. This also effects anything else playing such as videos or music, when I close MW:O problem goes away.

I have no idea where to start on this, as its so random. Every other program is fine, also MW:O with speakers, wired headset is perfectly normal..

Is there anyone with experience or at least some knowledge that can help me figure out why this issue would occur?

Cheers!

I have the exact same problem, so it is comforting that I am not alone on this problem. I will report it to the development team and see if they can find a solution to it.
I have tried everything that I can think of - changing the audio driver didn't help, nothing seemed to help. Every other program works just fine with the headsets.
The headsets I have are the Phillips SBH7150, and are Bluetooth 3.0, HSP, HFP, A2DP, AVRCP.

Sorry if I couldn't be of any help but at least I can tell you that my bluetooth headset, a Jabra REVO, works fine for MWO with bluetooth connection.

OK, I have found the solution to the problem...
The bluetooth headset is being forced into a low-quality mode by the software.

A lot of bluetooth headsets will swap over to the low-quality mode when something tries to access the bluetooth microphone. Try turning off the game's voice chat mode or force voice chat to use some other audio input/output. If you're using Vista or 7, you may want to go to the Recording options and take the bluetooth headset's microphone off of the communications and default modes.

I simply disabled my microphone and the audio quality went back to normal mode.. This was't a big problem for me because I have a microphone on my laptop that works perfectly fine in the game. However, if you wanted to use the microphoneon your bluetooth headset, well, that is a problem probably best reported to the technical services. I am going to copy this and send an email to technical support to make them aware of the problem, and the solution..

Yes, disable microphone...

omg..thanks guys, looked this up in time. I finally damaged my old long *** razer headphone cord by stepping on it and standing up, and I was going on several days playing with an iphone headset lolol - instead of picking up another, I had a sony mdrzx77bluetooth (no corded option on it) and after hooking it up it sounded even super worse than my old iphone damaged headset, well the fix did it. Miss my old worn out headset, it simply slept on my head, now my sony is squeezing out my brains.

Actually, the problem is with Skype. I have no solution other than not to run Skype while playing the game. I think it's a windows thing because I've experienced it on two different manufacturers' headsets. Closing Skype fixes the problem. At a guess, the drivers are co-opted by the Skype. Skype and Windows both being M$ products...

@ Rededevil:
Huge thanks for the "disable microphone" clue.
I found a fix, which works for me, after 2 years

I had somewhat similar problem.
My creative WP-350 would not play at all, unless in "headset" mode (mono, low quality, with microphone)
The headphones do install as 3 devices:
A ) HEADPHONES: Creative WP-350 headset stereo (visible in playback devices)
B ) HEADSET: Creative WP-350 Headset Hands-Free (visible in playback&recording devices)
C ) HID device with buttons (play,pause,etc... visible only in device manager)

It was impossible to disable just the (2) mono headset.
I do not have microphone connected to PC.

What fixed it:
1) in MWO options > audio > playback mode > set "windows audio session"
- probably not the real fix, it didnt help before step 3
2) instaled trial version of "Virtual Audio Cable"
- probably not the real fix, but it created virtual input device, which I could set as default
3) in windows > in both Playback devices & Recording devices tab > doubleclick on every bluetooth device (A and B above) > Advanced tab > UNTICK "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
- this definitely fixed the problem
- I tried this months earlier, without step 1 and 2 but it didnt help.
- Had same problem in few other games(example UT2004) and it was driving me crazy, now it works there as well
- bluetooth audio support in windows sucks (same with multiple inputs/outputs)

Hopefully this will help somebody else

Cheers
