So I live about 4hrs dive from PGI in Vancouver Canada, and I ping about 140ms consistently. When I pull up the player list in game, I see that 80 or less is a lot more common.

So is this a Western thing? If you're North America West, what's your ping like?

I'm not NA but live in UK, and get around 100-110 i'm really surprised its lower than one so close to PGi, is it time to swap providers , have you even a choice of ISP where you are ?, I know a few friends state side are limited to one in their county

His distance to PGI means nothign as the servers are in Montreal.

In reality he is about 2400 miles from the servers while you are about 3200.

Wow, those are some horrible pings considering how close you are to the server. I'm in central europe and get stable 106. :o

Guess I'm actually privileged by getting on a unique european server.

The servers aren't in Vancouver. They are in Toronto I believe still (they were there when IGP was in it still). My ping has always been 46-52 in Lafayette, IN and I know my ping to Chicago is around 36-42 range.

I guess these underwater cables are more efficient than you might assume.

went from 80 to 120 when I had to go to dsl. Some areas have bad hubs if not in a city.

Hm. when I lived just a couple hours away from Van my ping would sit around 80. Now that I moved up north 14+ hours away from Van I actually get a consistently lower ping, around 60 - 75
Man I miss the Okanogan.

Orange County, CA

320mbits down 25mbits up

Pre-server move was consistently 88
Since server move, 120-150

If I VPN to Phoenix I get a rock solid 77. If my route takes me through Time Warners network in Los Angeles it's the 120-150 range. Crappy peering- there's a big thread about time warner issues with some of us providing info and troubleshooting tips.
