I'd simply explore changing how missiles lock at this point.

I'd rather see missiles follow the crosshair / reticle over keeping the current lock system anyway.

Indirect Locks can also see significant tweaks, so that LRMs are more useful in more situations and having Locks be harder but possibly be fire and forget too.

Streaks should then only see locks as a measure to save ammo and I'd like to see ripple fire patterns added to all missile weapons too, since if they can follow where the player aims, they should then become deadlier and more ammo efficient too for more mechs.

ID love to see missiles, especially SRMs get a CoF that makes t hem feel more like they are coming out of a single launcher rather then all corners of the mech...cuz there is no way a missile spreads as much as they do in this game. Fire a single SRM6 and its like the missiles are firing out of your head, arms, hands, toes, gyro and all that at once, over coming out of a small launcher in your left arm......CoF more like an LBX.

Also, follow the cursor would be awesome for SRMs. Streaks I think should be kinda like MW4s fire and forget streaks, only instead of a super agile missile, they kinda track in a more believable arc before reaching max range and expiring.

LRMs maybe get higher speed or something.

What I've been thinking for Missile systems is to provide the players the opportunity to aim the missiles when we have LOS on a target. That way we can have them be more ammo efficient and help when used on fast and agile mech against another fast and agile mech. This way the current Lock system could also be re-purposed and adjusted separately since it would then simply be for Streaks saving ammo and for indirect LRM locks.

So depending on how high SRM / SSRM lethality increases from being able to hit what you intend with more consistency, and with greater ammo efficiency, next consider having a ripple fire pattern for how missiles leave the launchers. That should also help with making missiles feel more like proper missile systems too.

And so from there, if we can see LRM indirect locks be limited to only TAG and NARC, then I could see having a fire and forget system tested for those locks, where if a spotter with TAG holds and acquires a solid lock with TAG, than LRMs would lock-onto the intended target, or if a target has been NARC'd then LRMs would be able to lock on.

So then the duration to acquire locks can be adjusted with how they interact with ECM, where it'd be either a consistent lock duration or retain the existing interplay with acquiring locks.
Could then see adjustments to Streaks where they could add the TAG property to help cut through ECM that then stacks with adding on a TAG (I'd also add having TAG have a unique and separate hardpoint to keep it's beam, but with its beam being invisible, unless a player is using Heat or Night Vision; and to allow any mech that wouldn't mount an energy weapon to have an opportunity to mount TAG. And so access could then be restricted as a balancing feature as needed also).

It would force users of LRMs to acquire their own targets in general use, and could see LRMs get adjustments like increased speed, if necessary, and provides more utility to TAG spotters while making self-spotting with LRMs unnecessary. Then NARC also remains deadly when brought, and could also see having a unique Hardpoint to restrict it to specific cases as needed for any balancing concerns.

So with these ideas in mind, say like the Spider 5V, could add a TAG Hardpoint to an arm and be the forward scout that can rain down LRMs as one of the few fast JJ'ing LRM spotters out there. If LRMs get a speed boost and have the fire and forget feature once a lock is acquired, that should carve out a really nice role for the 5V. The Myst Linx is another that has TAG stock on an omnipod and so would be another to greatly benefit.

Then the RVN-3L could then be another Support Specialist instead of only being the all too common 2xERLL sniper dude. Since it carries NARC and TAG with its Stock Loadout after all.
