Most of them come with XL engines (which you can sell), plus probably need 4 XLs at most to cover all 16 mechs. Sell 16 XL engines for half, buy 4=profit. Then there's the DHS they all already have, so at most you're looking at endo/ferro costs for each, which aren't too bad.

ive been using stds more lately. i have way too many xl engines in my inventory. every "sweet spot" engine at 1.5 ton increments (except at the high end where differences between adjacent engines is huge), with many duplicates. i dont sell them. my std engine inventory is getting pretty respectable too.

Can't use IS equipment on the Origin IIC mechs.

It's only vague if you haven't been keeping up.

I'd been selling mine for a while, then bought a bunch of mechs at once and instantly regretted it. :(

JR7 IIC > All variants have DHS, Endo & Ferro
HBK IIC > All variants have DHS & Endo
ON1 IIC > All variants have DHS, Endo & Ferro
HGN IIC > All variants have DHS, 2 have Endo & the other 2 have Ferro

So overall, very low investment. Much, much better value than any resistance pack where the dollar prices are the same but the mechs come with STD structure, armor, SHS, etc.

Nono, the origin mechs are actually cheap as hell!

You buy them one time, and then you can just scrap half the games mechs. ;)

You'll need at least one clan STD engine for the extra Orion

I can't see why this would affect the standard engine. Clan or IS they are the exact same stats.

Why would you use an STD engine over a Clan XL?
What?
Double Goose in a single torso? That's basically a suicide vest.

Besides, it might be a bit too heavy for a mech with a standard engine, in my opinion

That's the beauty of Clan Battlemech: their flexibility to mount anything combined with light Clan hardware!

The ON1 can still move 71 kph with the engine while carrying an LPL for a backup so it should not be that bad.

Have they said that the standard engines will be considered the same and usable on IIC mechs?

Standard engines are standard engines; there's no difference.

They may have their own separate cSTD engine, but that would be silly and make the database larger for no reason at all (they've said they want to avoid that).
