Is This Game Dead/dying?

The game is improving -- population levels are all over the place depending on the time of day / day of the week. PGI is finally making strides towards a better game, however, they seem to fall flat on their faces from time to time, CW is, as it stands, just a frame-work and is missing many of the important parts that would make it complete. Solo queue pugging is the same with a few, much nicer, maps.

There's a surprising level of unstated potential diversity in this game, due to the large variety of builds and their corresponding play styles (and weaknesses...), and it's your problem to decide what you play.
If you die from boredom while playing with a mech that has average armor and average firepower and an average play style, it's not someone else's fault...

Came back to it today. I find the same boring game mods on the same boring maps with the same mechs and the same weapons and the same terrible pugs.
Took me a good 5-6 minutes to actually get into a game.
Im surprised it lasted this long tbh
It's been dying for the past 3 years and will die for the next 10 see us then o7

No this game is far from dying, especially with the latest patch and if they keep this up consistently.
Yes you are dead/dying.

Agreed. MWO seems much more fun, and better, compared to when I left 1.5 years ago. I think they got spooked as to how quickly Hawk3n died in the span of a year, despite being released to much fanfare.
Reason for long queues is due to a huge percentage of the population dropping in heavies, hence, the MM has difficulties trying to find the other 3 lights/mediums/assaults of similar ELO to make a team. Even then, the wait is pretty standard, about a minute or so, tops. If you want fast games, then take lights. The MM sometimes matches you in seconds...

For casual players, yes it is dying. Its very unforgiving for people with lack of time to play but for the hard core regulars, it will take them a while to get bored with this game.
Lack of true game modes and no end-game kills it.

You sure are. I finally recognize how long I've been playing this game because I remember these same "game is dead" posts from you so long ago. Well, you weren't right the first couple of years, but keep at it, Nostradamus - you'll be right eventually.

Don't forget the customization.
WHY aren't there more successful fun games where you can get really damn creative and come up with so many different approaches! Variety Banzai!
How the mechs look are creative too (whether that be credited to the original creators or PGI's interpretation). Nothing better than eye candy from a world someone started 20 years ago.

Because they try to make it an FPS and not a mech game. FPS game are dependent on weapon balance. Games like MWO has way too many levels of balance issues.
Examples;
Low slung hardpoints vs. high mounted hardpoints
Poor scaling
unfavorable hit boxes
Mechs based around poor performing weapons(missiles)
etc etc

Customization and variety means more balance issues.

SRMs are hard to use due to problems that come with it being only viable when very close, but powerful.
LRMs and Streaks having a low skill floor doesn't mean it sucks.

But if they handled that limitation right they could end up with quite a bit of potential.
But yeah.
