Are You Ready For Armagecm?

The Arctic Cheetah and Shadow Cat will usher in a new meta of omni-present ECM.
This is only the first wave of the End Times. ECM will only become denser as the Arctic Cheetah, Shadow Cat, and IS giftshop ECM mechs get phased into MC and eventually Cbill distribution.
Calling out targets by their letter designation will become a thing of the past. We'll be restricted to identifying mechs by their model, color scheme, and approximate location.

When they get one of those, I'm uninstalling the game.

My Lurm boats will be collecting dust in the garage for sure. It is ridiculous how simultaneous release of mechs with certain 1-1.5 ton equipment dissuades many players to pack an entire weapon system. I thought the ECM range nerf Paul mentioned would come hand in hand with Scat and Cheetos release but nope.
Oh well, I am currently infatuated with the Timbie-A LT CERPPC sniper, so for the short term, I am fine.

... and when the Cataphract XP and GRF-2N were released.
ArmagECM has been delayed a couple of times already. Looks like it may never arrive.
I don't think it'll make much of a difference at all. Nobody's firing LRMs on light mechs anyway, and I don't think the Shadowcat will ever be popular enough to make that big of a difference. A 45 ton mech with ~100 kph speed isn't going to be easy mode. When people realize that, and when the novelty of sniping in a glass cannon with half its weight invested in jump jets, MASC and ECM quickly wears off, people will run back to their Stormcrows and their Nova poptarts. The Arctic Cheetah may be a common mech, but I doubt that the SCAT will be as common as the Stormcrow in the long run.
And apparently, a lot of people are planning to run Streakcrows and Streaktaros the next few weeks. Which means you'll probably have a BAP or two on your team.

Paul said he's halving the ECM range, my LRM90 Mad Dog is going to have a blast.

Why's that?
The clans will have, 3 lights, 1 medium and 1 heavy that are ECM capable after tomorrow.
As it is, I hardly ever see any Adders being used, even after the flamer was made removable, it's almost always Kit Foxes, maybe a Myst Lynx every now and then.
The Shadow Cat will almost certainly be used as much as, or more than the Nova or Stormcrow. I hardly ever see any Ice Ferrets these days.
The Hellbringer is still pretty much the most used heavy I see, with the Timber and Jaguar hot on its heels. The Mad Dog is somewhere in there, and the Summoner is all but extinct for crying out loud.
Get an ECM capable assault and it'll be the cherry on top of the Clan ECM war machine.

And that's exactly what we're afraid of. By reducing the range, we'll have even more ECM mechs running around, and that's not good.
Now, back to what I was saying before... Actually, the Clans already have ECM capable assaults, the Dire Wolf C, a "Hero" Gargoyle, the Kingfisher, the Turkina and the Imp.
Out of those mechs, only the DW-C is not applicable as it's currently 'out of timeline' due to it having ATMs equipped. That still leaves 3 complete chassis' available to be used, and 1 more variant for the Gargle.
God forbid if PGI ever gets to the Kingfisher and Turkina.

I wish they would just give nerfing the function of ECM a shot. Like just make it so LRMs are effected by having more spread. And perhaps making it so people can't piggy back locks when a target is under ECM.
Nerfing the radius is just a lousy band aid.

Man I sure hope IS 'mechs never get an ECM-carrying 'mech in every weight class! There'd be ECM everywhere. LRMs would be useless. No Holy Doritos for LRM boats. I think I'd just uninstall the game!
...
Wait a second.
