So I have one idea for the pub queue, and one idea for CW. The one for CW is pretty radical and I realize it's unlikely to happen, but there's no harm in putting the idea out there.

The more likely one for the pub queue is that there would be a "Brute Force" option, which would be a box you could check. Once you check the box, the queue no longer checks for weight class at all. So if you're solo queue, the matchmaker would literally only need to put 24 people together, and then just randomly split them up and there ya go.

I realize this might put a strain on the servers, but if the servers could handle it, I think it would result in a better player experience.

The second and much more radical idea, for CW, is this: Start the 10-minute countdown-timer whenever somebody attacks. Even if it's just one guy. Of course, people can join him in that time and make it into more of a team, but at the end of 10 minutes, the game launches regardless.

I'm less certain how this would work for the defending team, but I'm sure that an attack timer would have had to have started in order for it to be defended.

So sure, you could have 5 guys all dropping on 5 different planets, but turrets would still exist just like normal. I'm actually not sure if one guy could take a planet by himself on an invasion. It's not like that ever happens, of course. I guess I am certain that 2 guys could take a planet if totally unopposed or even against a noob maybe.

Here's the thing: CW is already unfair. It's played simultaneously on a pug level and on a 12-man level. The 12-mans almost always win against the less-organized pugs; everybody knows that! With this system, pugs would have more power to influence the game and get things going, as they wouldn't NEED 12 guys in order to drop. They would actually have real attacking potential, rather than always defending and being crushed by 12-man attacking teams.

And I don't think trying to ghost-drop a bunch of planets would necessarily be that great. I mean it's strategy. I'd make it more interesting. You would have to try and answer all the attacks with adequate defenses. You wouldn't be forced to play 12 v 12. And like I said, even when you do play 12 v 12, that doesn't mean it's fair at all. At least pugs could use their pugginess to some advantage this way. A few friends could get on and try to take a planet and have a good time seeing if anybody ever came to defend it.

Also, it might be best to both attack and defend blindly. Meaning, it's not like you can see how many people are defending against you at the end of that 10 minutes. They'd probably just show up as if they were a 12-man regardless of their actual numbers. Same would go for the defenders. You don't know how many are attacking. All you know is that the more guys you have, the more chance of being successful you are.

This would only be for solo CW-dropping, not dropping with your 12-mans or I guess groups in general. That would work the same as it does now. I'm talking about solo CW drops only. Nobody wants to make a 12-man and drop against 2 guys over and over.

Like right now, for instance. It's 10:30 in the morning on a Tuesday. Can I go into CW and actually have a good time? No not really. I probably couldn't get into a match, and if I could, it would probably take 15-20 minutes. Even then, it would most likely be pugs versus pugs, and I might as well have just joined the public queue at that point. My way, I could do CW in the middle of the day, and me and a few more guys could get to work taking planets, and maybe we'd have some defenders. They might not be full 12-man teams, but at least I'm playing CW and have the potential to get something done. Besides, this is WAR. Who says you need 12 guys? Who has time for that? You got like 5 mechs? Let's drop them and take the position!! Can we really afford not to take that opportunity? Why the heck would you need 12 mechs to take down a few turrets?

Hm I didn't write this with the realization that this would have to be for solo CW drops only. I guess it COULD be just all the time, but I can see how that would annoy people. Especially if 12 guys are waiting for 10 minutes only to drop against 2 guys. And if it filled up with 12 guys on either side, the 60-second timer would start of course. I don't have the whole thing worked out, but it's a basic idea to think about: Open up CW to where you could drop with less than 12 guys somehow.

Maybe for attack only. A player could solo a counter-attack or defense if no opponent dropped.
