well hopefully they will allow us to dump it from the Shadow Cat. 2 tons for for more ammo or even 2 more Clan ERML mounts on the CT would be better. I like it on the Exec but i would dump it too tbh as it is average at best for the tonnage and space used
Well i think is more about Hardpoints than hardwired equipment.
Yeah. I finally took mine out for a spin (I've been having to much fun with the Arctic Cheetah). Boy is MASC disappointing compared to the Executioner.
Would be Nice if the Shadowcat MASC took it to the 130KPH Lore value! I would be happy with that and it does not break the speed barrier by a long shot.
I my Scat. Just took a few builds to find something dangerous. There are some little tricks you can play with MASC that makes the chassis fun to play. Not as dangerous as the Arctic Cheater but definitively complements 3 Cheaters or supporting Heavies and Assaults.
I bought my first shadow cat recently and while fun, it's also seriously fragile and I've been underwhelmed with it's MASC function. The implementation is clunky and distracting since you're adding in a key stroke every time you want to turn faster or accelerate harder. Toggling it on is never useful and often dangerous because it will eat your legs off while you're standing completely still. The shake is annoying as hell, and makes MASC harmful in combat, and it's so slow as to be completely useless for quick strategic repositioning, which is what it's meant to be for.
Here's how MASC toggling SHOULD work -
While Toggled on
W - When you hold your acceleration down, it causes you to accelerate up to your nominal top speed. With MASC active, you accelerate faster, and can pass your top speed. If you release W, your throttle decays to your nominal top speed. While MASC is toggled on, your MASC 'stress level' or whatever you want to call it, does not increase except when you are holding down W, A, S, D or your throttle reverse key. In other words, you aren't exerting your 'Mech unless you're pushing it past it's nominal limits.
When toggled off or with MASC destroyed, you operate normally, obviously.
A 30% speed speed boost would let MASCII equipped mediums travel at not-quite the canon speeds while still being actually useful for moving about.
Between Jump-jets and MASC, the Shadowcat's just got all the poorly implemented and self destructive crap a 'Mech can have hardwired to it. (Jumpjets should recharge while you're in the air, by the way, if you're never going to give them directional control. I'm sick of slowly floating slooowly up to a cliff ledge, then bouncing off it like I'm piloting a rubber ball and falling on to some bumpy terrain that never quite counts as 'landing' while my legs slowly separate from my 'Mech as it thrashes and vibrates it's way through the map geometry in an attempt to ploish.)
I do like the MASC on the Scat, and it's true the accel and turn rate boosts are nice, but if I could choose between that and 2t more engine? MASC doesn't seem like such a great choice in comparison.
