Anyone want to sort that clan mech list and compress the variants together, on account of there's no difference between most clan variants, and certainly none between, for example, a HBR-Prime and a HBR-Prime(I).

While unsurprised, but there were less Liao units and more Liao participation than Marik...

This is pretty sad.

Fish beat me to it.

Interesting to note that between the 3l and 3L[C], the RVN-3L was the second most commonly deployed Spheroid 'Mech. People keep insisting the thing is week-old-fish level garbage, and yet it beat out everything but the top 4 Clan chassis (which, given the condensing, all have inflated numbers as compared to regular Sphere 'Mechs as Clan chassis don't really work the same) and the Blunderdolt.

Hmm.

HBR Chassis total = 35,788
TBolt Chassis total = 36,603

That 65 ton sweet spot.

Re-sorted and annotated for truth (and presented in a larger, more legible font):

Inner Sphere
  • TDR-5SS: 19,545
  • TDR-9SE: 12,406 (Regular and Champion combined)
  • RVN-3L: 10,903
  • STK-4N: 7,186
  • DRG-1N: 6,786
  • JM6-DD: 6,330 (Debated combining this with JM6-S, a lot of people run both these 'mechs with the same builds- 2xGR or 2xAC/20)
  • CDA-3M: 4,822
  • TDR-9S: 4,652
  • GRF-2N: 4,584
  • BJ-1X: 4,386
  • WVR-6K: 3,993+ (Champion version of this did not make board on its own, so this count is inaccurately low. Cannot be more than 6,600, though.)
  • SDR-5D: 3,878
  • FS9-S: 3,682+ (Champion version of this did not make the board on its own, so this count is inaccurately low. Cannot be more than 6,300, though.)
  • HUGINN: 2,942
  • PIRATE'S BANE: 2,7680
  • VTR-9S: 2,674+ (Champion version of this did not make the board on its own, so this count is inaccurately low. Cannot be more than 5,300, though.)
  • HBK-4J: 2,652
Looks like the Thuds are still tromping all over everything else, and Ravens are still the favored ECM by a long shot. Got some inaccurate counts though, due to (for no actual reason) marking Champions as somehow a separate 'mech. This could skew perception in a few cases, though none of the possible skews breaks the top 4 IS chassis variants.

Clans
  • Hellbringer: 34,788 (Note- no functional difference between CTs. All Hellbringers made the board, though.)
  • Stormcrow: 30,118+ (Note- no functional difference between CTs. B and A didn't make the board, so this value may be low by as much as 6,400)
  • Ebon Jaguar: 24,185 (Note- no functional difference between CTs. All EBJs except C made the board, so this value may be low by as much as 3,200.)
  • Total Timber Wolves: 23,444+ (Two CTs did not make this list, so this value may be low by as much as 6,400)
  • Timber Wolf Prime: 9,744
  • Timber Wolf A/C/D: 7,424+ (Note- no functional difference between these CTs. A and D didn't make the board, so this value may be low by as much as 6,400)
  • Mad Dog Prime: 6,378 (Note- no other CTs, despite the lack of difference, made the board. Therefore, this value may be low by as much as 9,600)
  • Timber Wolf S: 6,276
  • Kit Fox: 4,550+ (Note- no functional difference between these CTs. Only the C CT actually hit the leaderboard, so this value may be low by as much as 9,600)
  • Ice Ferret: 3,807+ (Note- the A CT is different, and only the Prime made the leaderboard. This value may be low by as much as 12,800- 9,600 if we count the IFR-A as separate.)
  • Mist Lynx: 3,384+ (Note- no functional difference between CTs, but only the Prime made the leaderboard. This value may be low by as much as 12,800)
  • Adder: 3,220+ (Note- no functional difference between CTs, but only the Prime made the leaderboard. This value may be low by as much as 9,600)
A lot more Hellbringers than I would have guessed, that's for certain. Some weird CT breakdowns, like people preferring the TBR-C center torso despite it being literally exactly the same as the A and D. Much like how nothing IS touches the top 4 no matter what, nothing, no matter how big the missing data, catches up to the Crow, nevermind the Bringer.

One thing I did learn is that PGI isn't terribly good at breaking down data like this properly- there's no reason to list the IS Champions as separate from the regular versions, they aren't functionally different in combat. Similarly, the Clan list should have been compressed a lot and included all variants of each 'mech that made the top 20 with any variants at all; it would be a lot more representative and answer more questions- right now the view we get from this of Clan 'mech frequencies is in error by as much as a 400% margin of error (Hi, Mist Lynx!). Not acceptable for statistical analysis. Barely adequate for guessing.

Edit: A few math corrections.

I wish they'd compressed it as it stands. Even where their is a difference between CT's, ultimately that difference is incredibly small. Sure, the TBR C/D/A CT's have an extra E hardpoint, but it's not like you're struggling to find E hardpoints on Timberwolves.

Incidentally, as to why people prefer C's to D's and A's: They don't "prefer" it, it's just most common because I'd hazard a guess that the majority of Timberwolf owners bought them in a pack, or before the D and A where released. As such, the C was the "CT To Get". No reason to buy A or D CT's after you have a C.

Sure, but the Prime has a ballistic nobody wants, and the S has a Jump Jet. I believe they have different quirks than the E center torsos also? Not sure offhand.

When I say 'no difference' I mean absolutely no functional difference, even minimal ones like 2.5% twist rate or acceleration backwards or what have you.

10,000ish people seems pretty reasonable given:
1) It's only people who are in units - ultimately that's going to be a lower number than the random solos.
2) It's Beta CW. Many players are either uninterested in it, or enjoyed it but are somewhat burnt out at the limited scope we have right now.

I didn't participate, for example. Just wasn't really into the looooooong waits to get a match; I haven't had a lot of time to play in a sitting over the last couple months, typically just an hour at a time at best. That's just not good for CW. It's good for just one match, IF I get into a group and get queued immediately. Not worth the hassle.

So, why didn't they tell us how many matches were won by IS and Clan, and how many planets changed hands for eac? I'm interested in those numbers, though they're probably afraid of throwing fuel on the Clans are op fire.

Total Clan 'Mechs destroyed: 133,759
Total IS 'Mechs destroyed: 146,794

Total Damage Done by IS 'Mechs: 50,885,002
Total Damage Done by Clan 'Mechs: 50,543,613

And this says everything right here. Clans did a small amount less damage (very small) however killed 10% more mechs. The only possibility of this is due to XL Engines on IS mechs vs clans.

The fact is, no matter how many players there are, or what mechs there are its still 48 vs 48 per match. Total damage is relatively even however IS dies faster due to XL engines.

this equates to 380.42 dmg per death of a clan mech vs
344.31 dmg per death of an IS mech - when you consider that a lot of the IS mechs include re-enforced quirks on torso's it shows you the difference is quite considerable.

it remains the only factor that needs to be balanced. If you look at the top used IS mechs you see this re-enforced.
Raven XL Engine
Dragon XL Engine
Jager XL engine
Cicada XL engine

etc etc. the reason the TDR is used so much along with the stalker 4n is that the quirks give IS the only competitive options that don't need XL engines to compete.

If this doesn't show PGI what is missing when doing the next quirk major pass then nothing will.

Not even 10000 players played during this event !
That's not much...

But its Summer time and during Winter we would have seen at least double number of players.

But its quite clear that a lot of players have left MWO, or did not take part in events any more.

No, it basically proves people were not willing to wait around for matches to get stomped, not get their 80pts, and even fail to achieve a doll cockpit item.

Didn't people already predict MAJOR uber units with big populations to smash it, DIDNT people already predict -MS- would blitz it in their sleep.

this was a farcical event by PGI proving smaller unis would be better at keeping game play fair and interesting.

Look at the current IS map.
NO fresh player looking in on this map would deem it a fair playground that they would like to participate in

Since the clan mechs are omni their listing is kinda pointless unless you add them all up.

So even though a Hellbring says 11k for the prim add in the other variants because you can get the same builds.Added up 35,788 if you subtract the Prime (I) because it might have been counted twice you get 28421

So while people complain about IS Thunder Wub 5SS at 19k but then you have at least 28k clan Hellbringers with their possible ECM.
