Lots of wonderful data. If I have the time I would like to crunch the numbers, but some numbers jumped out.

Matches to Points ratio above 1: This seems to be the standard for a good unit. At least for IS. For clan the ratio for a good unit looks to be around 1.4 to 1.5. Only one #1 unit, Davion's Phoenix Legion, was unable to achieve this standard. Clan Ghost Bears Alpha Wolves had an astonishing ratio close to 0.5.

Unit participation: 30-50% for the top units. Marik units...yikes. Some of the larger units (300+) were lucky to get 14-15%, unless you happened to be in MS. And damn Night Scorn, how did you manage to get 40 matches per member!? Good job! Sorry 2DNO, having one member run 39 matches only gets you an honorable mention.

On a personal note, wish my unit PMP had more participation. A higher placement in House Liao was well within reach.

So what jumped out to you when you looked at the numbers?

I think each unit should be proud of their accomplishments rather than get hung up on what others are doing. Likewise it is a chance to see where the problems are.

In SWOL we had a W/L ratio of 50% after the first tournament and whole groups of our newest players were devoured by some of the best units in the game. In one situation we had a whole 12 man of players on trial mechs go 0-48 against Battle Magic. We used these losses to learn as well as hone our newer players and this tournament our ratio was above 1.2.

This is not perfect and we still have a long ways to go but it is a nice indicator of where we are and where we need to be as well as how we've improved. Unlike the first tournament we had very few pug stomps and it was primarily unit on unit fighting. In this regards are improvements have been astonishing and I'm proud of all my gals and guys.

To the units that did poorly I don't think they need to feel bad. Everyone can have a rough patch and if you learn from where you need to improve there is no shame.

The answer to that... some of us really wanted those dogtags.

To be accurate, some played as/when they can.. others were more dedicated to the cause.

NS did really good, were you guys blitzing the gens after getting 80 or did you farm the opposing teams?

If you actually look at the Alpha Wolves, we played 3 days in Kurita, and 3 days in Clan Ghost Bear. Our cumulative games played is listed as 448 (it shows both 448 on both Kurita and CGB) and we earned 376 pts in Kurita, and 241 pts in CGB, for a cumulative of 617 points in 448 total matches. This actually gives us a ratio of 1.37, not the .5 that you quote. I think PGI should have shown the number of games per faction vs points earned, instead of listing the total games over the course of the event, since it actually skews the statistics for those units that had a contract end mid event. It would be interesting to see what our ratio is if split into IS and clan side, though I predict it would be pretty close (which dispels the notion of Clan OP, or IS OP, since same players playing Clan or IS would be achieving the same success regardless)

Thank you for the correction. Makes much more sense now.

On a less relevant tangent: The Clan Exemplar badge looks great. What does the Inner Sphere one look like?

@Lugin: Now, that's awesome. PGI did a good job with those. It's a pity that badges have such poor visibility in-game, due to their size.

More or less. It mattered more when time before ceasefire was coming upon us.

It's a logical thing to do after all. Everyone gets a fair shot at their 80 (assuming you are reasonably competent), but it's always the stronger or at least smarter force to dictate terms of engagement. You can't force the better force to "stand down". Chasing the last Mist Lynx or whatever mech is a waste of time (unless it is Counter Attack, in which we're all forced to do that) and gotta make those drops efficient as possible.

Why would do otherwise?
