Far from liberal, and far from supporting any form of government.

Why am I surprised by your reaction... After all Texans are well known for assuming they know everything
We don't assume we know everything, but we do know at least one terrific unassailable incontrovertible wonderful fact:

We're from The Great State of Texas!

OK, so no foxnews, just other extreme right-wing "news" sources. My point still stands. If you are dividing up satire into liberal vs conseratvie, you really need to go outside.

Nah. I pretty much ignore what commentators/"opiners"/etc. have to say. I stopped caring what other folks told me to think a long time ago. So I read here and there, but mostly derive my own opinions from thought and study of literature, history, the world, etc. As a science fiction author, it is my duty to think for myself. If I do not, I am harming my readers.

I love satire, but I've seen more than my fair share of bias on the Onion over the years. I stopped reading it a long while back. Oddly I've preferred stuff like Something Awful for satire.

this is not the place for political differences.... i find your lack of brainusage quite disturbing atm.

its just about simple flags beeing put in of nations. not states within a nation.
a texas-flag is nothing that should be in here.
A balanced and reasoned view, BUT, just to play devil's advocate here:

Technically the Texas 'State' flag, is/was the flag for the nation The Republic of Texas, so, y'know...

If there's another state that can claim the same, add theirs too...

for once, GERMANY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT!!!!
i blame the frenchies and spains :D and dem nasty brits.
HAHA!!! You are wrong! There was a vast contingent of Germans that emigrated to Texas, mostly after the civil the war (that's how my ancestors go here).

That's where Texas got a lot of its good beer brewing skills, among other somewhat less important skills.

Actually, its not, feel free to look it up
Unfortunately he's not completely wrong, post Civil War a lot of the 'differences' Texas enjoyed were 'treatied' away...

yep they came in long after the inital settlement from other european countries :P is that wrong? :P
so we got nothing to do with everything before ;) in fact germany and whatever it was before never had a excessive marine culture until 18th century or later :D na some just wanted to reach the *holy free land* ^^
at least be happy that you know what real beer is instead that water-like wannabe beer :D

why? because we are fully happy with the german flag ;)
we keep our own flag in our hearts but our little old kingdom would be nothing on its own ;)
we are happy to represent our german flag anyday :D and add a small baden-flag to it :P

At least the US didn't go and slaughter thousands of people in the name of politics unlike... Oh wait... Nvm.
LOL, as someone pointed out, we've only been here a few hundred years, while Europe, Asia, et al, have been around quite a bit longer.

Sorry guys, I guess we're in a hurry to catch up with your body count that your peoples accumulated over your histories...

I was in Texas for AIT while in the Army. I also deployed out of Texas.

Nothing personal, Texans, but, yeah, you got yourselves a state full of crazytown. Hell, even people from Florida, f***ing Florida for the love of all that is holy, think your state is nuts.

Well again since Texas is one of the FEW states 'crazy' enough to NOT have an income tax... Yeah a lot of other state governments find us ABSOLUTELY crazy.

I've lived or have relatives who in quite a few of the other states of the United states:

California: pretty, fairly friendly folks, but barely affordable.
Colorado: pretty, but people are kind of rude, and taxes are sometimes bizarre even in spite of the TBOR (tax payers bill of rights).
Washington: Again pretty, but, also expensive and very depressingly rainy
Tennessee: Umm... yeaaaaahhh, They have whiskey, and that's cool and all, BUT, those people...
Montana: It's a very pretty place, but people are a bit shall we say, 'brisk' in attitude...
Idaho: It's a close second to Texas. Pretty, friendly, somewhat affordable to live in, even has a fairly interesting 'shape', but it do be getting VERY cold in the winter.
Kansas: Meh. All the standard silly comments about Kansas are actually true.

There are others I could list, but of all the places I've lived or visited, I prefer Texas, MOST of the people I know feel the same, even those not currently living in Texas.

I'm from Oregon, then traveled all over the states, drove from one end of the US to the other and back again, all of you nut jobs need to take a chill pill and sit in the corner for a few minutes. Seriously...... STFU. The only place that truly felt normal to me, were a few places in Illinois and Maine.

IMHO Texans are good people, but there is a strange sense of prior indoctrination when talking to many of them. It gets a bit freaky sometimes.

Wow. Talk about drinking the Koolaid. You're probably convinced that the Civil War was about states' rights. News flash ==> It wasn't about states' rights, it was about states trying to secede from the union because they wanted to expand slavery and didn't like the direction that Congress and the President were going on the issue. In other words, it was about slavery.

Only koolaid drinker here is you if you believe that tripe pal.

If it was about Slavery then the Emancipation Proclamation would have been done before it was AND it would have freed ALL slaves, not just the slaves in the States that were rebelling.

Seriously, at least TRY to know what you're talking about before you post.
