Tryhards killed this game.

As much as I feel dirty for agreeing with R Razor, I think he hit the nail on the head with this one. Try Hards pushing the meta. It's dominating these forums currently, like a plague.

The game isn't destroyed. It just isn't what some people wanted. Honestly, mechwarrior does great as a comptitive game over a single player experience in my opinion. A story mode would be great, but alot of us here would be sticking around for the multiplayer.

It's not single player.

You don't have your own epic adventure of choosing or founding a corporation, having a non-linear global map like in Dark Crusade with quests and subquests and branching story and characters.

You don't have progression and personality of any kind.

Instead, you have sterile, contextless, storyless matches where it is completely irrelevant if you "die".

Multiplayer - the bane of the gaming industry.

Also, this game uses Cryengine 3 but for some bizarre reason it has Playstation 3 graphics.

oh wait....it's not destroyed. I played today in fact.

There are much worse communities, in much more popular games.

I'd say that MWO community is quite the pleasant one, in comparison.

Thar may be so. But, they still ruined the game. :o

This is a weak complaint. Any competition will foster a desire to find the most efficient and effective way of winning. You don't see competitive runners wearing Converse All-Stars or cyclists riding Huffys. Create a game with choices and the vast majority of players will seek out the most optimal choices for winning. The only way to stop "try-hards" is to remove mech choices and customization. That just won't happen. This is like communists or socialists who complain about greed; the only way to fix that in people is with death camps.

Blizzard adding ANOTHER flying mount to the cash shop when there still isn't flying in Draenor and not adding another raid tier is what killed this game!

Wait....

Dual AC20's, dual Guass, laser vomit, LRM's, ECM, poor hit registry, or shady hit boxes was all supposed to kill MWO but did not.

Do you really think not having a single player mode in a team based game is gonna kill it?

What killed(or killing) this game is trying to balance clan mechs with IS mechs.

Oh wait, you're serious?!

MWO (forums at least) is pretty toxic, despite how low other places can get. I wouldn't call it friendly so much as "not lethal."
Yet.

Also, don't fret, OP. There's always MekHQ if you fancy SP.

This is pvp not pve. I for one get tired of the back story that is continually forced into sporting events as a spectator. The books are still available (I think).

+1 OP. You literally tore them a new one.

The potential this game HAD is redonkulous.

I don't care or want PvE but all his points are spot on.

PGI designed a PvP FPS game with twitch elements but introduced casual game mechanics. A lack of multiplayer rankings, better matchmaking, and competitive options, have left one of the easiest pieces of advertisement for the game untouched before they go into Steam release and can release single player, more CW stuff, new features, etc. They would have had a lot more momentum had they taken the, "if you build it, they will come" philosophy with the game during it's building phase before it's introduced to the greater gaming community.

That has caused a lot of issues during the game's development.

This game was destroyed? When did this happen? Man, that's disappointing. I was having so much fun.

Yesterday at 4pm. When all the ECM and LRMs killed everyone on Assault and all the tryhard comps left to go play Rugby.

You might like Phantasy Star Online 2. Wanna robot? Use a Cast Ra/Fi or Gu/Ra to shoot stuff up.

If you want to sell stuff in your personal store or buy more skill trees be prepared to convert $ to Yen using a Japanese proxy street address.

Its a fun game but i left after the DoS attack left my friends 'hanging'...you can read about it on pso-world.com

MWO dead? I cant agree with that. Untapped potential? Yeas, tons. Dead? No.
