For the first time ever I have to shun Saitek - I went through multiple x35 and x36 joystick/throttle combos for Mw3 and 4. The next logical step was to upgrade to the X52 system but there is one HUGE issue!

They put the friggen TWIST on the joystick and took the rudder off the throttle which was my old twist control!!!! *goes postal*

Going to go with the Thrustmaster T-Flight Joystick and throttle combo since it has a rudder under the throttle for torso twist.

Taking a closer took at the X52 Throttle it appears to have at least 2 Rotary Buttons on that could solve your problem by serving as Rudders?

@ ShadowFlash:
It obviously depends on your preferences what suits you better.
Using W.A.S.D. will probably be possible in Combination with a Joystick not having a Z-Axis but for a better gameplay I suggest in using one that has 3 Axes and a Throttle to get the best out of the game.

I for one will be sporting this beauty

If you can afford a good joystick, Joysticks all the way. If not, id just say use a mouse. My original sidewinder2 forcefeedback died earlier this week so im stuck using a R.A.T. 5. Still rocks on MW4 but not half as fun or realistic. Imma have to wait until the Razer artemis or something better comes out.

Until I can afford something better (say around Christmas at this point) I think the xbox controller might be the way to go. It won't give the immersion effect, but the gameplay should be acceptable.

That is, if MWO will support it.

I have the X45 and I just can't get it to work no matter what config I use, I can get the axis right for a few seconds and then it flips again. It's another reason why I am holding off buying a founders pack.

I have a Saitek X52 but I am unsure what to use. For piloting and immersion reasons the joystick is better, for aiming I'd rather use a mouse.

As for the feel, the joystic is better. But nothing is accurate as a good gaming mouse.

For the most part I will have to wait and see how the game play compared to the old school mech warrior.

Analogic wise- You got to have control for torso twistm turning and possibly aiming too,. Now I expect the game to combine both turning and aiming all together, when you aim at the edge the mech will start to turn, altho you will need to torso twist to line your gun properly while moving.

I am pretty sure, it will require me a lot of trial and error before I find a confortable setting, In the end it is much more complex then a more traditional FPS.

OI! Don't you go stealing my red and green configs! Blue I don't care about, but those two are actually used!

In more serious news... *cough*

Yeah, same setup on my side. I'll probably be unboxing my old WIngman 3D again to see how it plays. And the overall design of the M570 is just freaking amazing for all tasks. Totally worth paying for.

Im looking into getting a joystick aswel, making the game much more realistic.
Then again im on a tight budget. With max 120$ to spend.

So it will most likely be the Saitek X52 aswel.
Which is currently on sale for 100€ in a store hearby. Would this be a good choice?
Lets just hope it stays on sale till my paycheck gets here.

I... uh... used both actually.

I played MW4 with just the throttle and mouse.
the throttle has the rudder and an additional button on the back (which I used as a shift key), in conjunction with the three buttons on the front. gives you throttle, torso* and six actions on your left hand, in addition to whatever gaming mouse you've got it's a potent combination.
*that's what I used it for in MW4, could just as easily be used to steer.

<EDIT> This the the older Thrustmaster Topgun Afterburner II set. you can get the T.flight HOTAS with the separatable throttle.
