The combined 20% AC/20 cooldown quirk combined with a Level 5 AC20 Cooldown Module makes the thing fire like a damn AC20 machine gun. It's incredibly nasty. Granted, the UAC5 one and the Gauss one are more immediately useful, but there's literally nothing that can facetank that AC20 combo.

Dire Wolf outguns the KGC in dakka builds pretty badly. 4 Ultra AC/10s shred the world, DPS plus range advantage. But, the new heat management setup may fix this so maybe hold off on switchin to a Direwolf just yet.

I keep seeing it said that dual ac20 is better then quad ac5 because it is pin point damage this is now untrue, ac20 are now glorified shotguns they may fire a single projectile but on impact they explode and if any of the explosion hits more then one module, the damage is spread to that module aswell splitting the 20 damage based on how many modules it hits

no.

the weapon does indeed deal 20 points to one armor panel, often referred to as "front loaded damage" meaning when the round connects, it does all of it's damage instantly unlike Clan AC's that shoot salvos of shells and lasers with a burn time, but it along with every other weapon has three chances to deal a critical hit to components only after the armor plating has been removed, perhaps that is where your confusion stems from.

as for whether or not it's effective is based on your goals and playstyle, limited by skill.
