You mean the Stormcrow which goes only 10kph slower and mounts more firepower with better survivability?
The BJ-1X?
The Ice Ferret which can out trade it with better speed?

I'm not asking MASC to boost it to Ice Ferret levels, but a 10% MASC increase to speed would actually make it more worthwhile over simply mounting a 300 XL. This will help give depth with future mechs that can mount MASC and a larger engine *cough*Wolverine*cough* rather than it be simply dumped.

Then you are easily outclassed by the Stormcrow and the Wolverine, because they can do both better for around the same speed.

Well then, you just have to get the notion of all Mediums and Heavies should perform as well as Storm Crow or the Timberwolves, out of your head. Cause with PGI's balancing method, that aint happening.

Honestly, why even pilot any Lights, Mediums, or Heavies aside from the Cheetos, the Crow, and the Timbie, if all you want is performance?

And the fact all three are from the Clan side, shows the current tech imbalance more clearly than anything.

You brought that up, not me. You asked what could 1v1 it with similar speed as well as suggested that harassers/strikers don't speed or need to be away from the main group. I brought up counter points.

All I want is it to better compete with the Ferret because both perform similar roles. Boosting MASC to give better speed while active would do just that.

Scat has 16 tons of pod space while Ferret has mere 9 tons. Scat also has JJs and high mounts. They both do their job differently.

Scat does not have to compete with Ferret at all. 1v1 Scat will destroy Ferret with ease. If we buff Scat's MASC, then Ferret will be simply thrown into the bin, as speed is the only thing Ferret has.

I think you underestimate how much the quirks helped the Fridge, that and the ability to mount 5 C-ERMLs.

I'm not so sure about that.

5 ERMLs (16 heatsinks) or 5 SPLs (+SRMx or heatsinks) will destroy most SadCat builds.

Fridge with 5 hardpoints has the ability to mount multiple small lasers, not restricted to LPLs.

Been playing them, finally. No it's not top tier, but it certainly not the worst.

I think a few ppl remember it from past games, where it was "better".

Masc does feel wasted, but thats #CLAMLYFE.

Because it's not better than every other mech in-game?

Didn't the same thing happen with Ebon jaguar on its release 'because it wasn't better than the Timberwolf'?

I am not sure what game you have been playing, but the Ebon Jaguar from the time of release has been considered Tier 1 by pretty much everyone. Especially since the Timberwolf got nerf-batted just prior to Wave 3 release with the huge negative burn/cooldown quirks.

And yet the Timbie is still better than the Epic BJ. EBJ simply cannot take much damage, especially with such torso hitboxes.

Once the Scat comes out for C-Bills, I'm gonna test it out myself. Cause I am still not convinced.

1. MASC badly done on SCAT, it is a waste of 2 tons of space and weight for an already undergunned medium mech
2. Speed is good , mobility good but again, lack of weapon space to make use of the speed , if the MaSC was done properly as per TT, then a 130 kph scat would be actually decent.
3. no issues with weapon mounts or hitboxes
4. Low pod space.

all in all SCAT is ok but in relative terms compared to the premier medium mechs , it is below average. And before you say something stupid like OH YOU CANNOT COMPARE X TO Y, just no do not say that .

Once a Scat pilot jumped in front of my 6R and dueled with me. I blasted the thing apart in mere seconds with my over-quirked AC5s. Scat is not meant for brawling. Like the Cicada or the BJ, it is meant for hit-n-run. And many people do not have the required patience for such style of fighting.

Hence the name Shadowcat..suppose to make use of shadows. It's great flanker, perhaps to team up with some lights or mediums and utilise it's ECM.

I have seen doing people some great scores with it. Because they don't brawl with it. They make use if the terrain height and try to be on the fourth line. (the lonely line)

Because Boating wins in MWO, if you can't boat and puke out 1 massive alpha it must automatically be useless.

Shadowcat, just like many lights and mediums is an endurance fighter, with the mobility and stealth to pull it off, some people don't want to work that hard for kills though.

Builds on the Shadowcat are somewhat limited due to the amount and placement of hardpoints as well as the locked components taking up what little tonnage can be used for weapons. Put that on top of the MASC system that isn't as effective as it is in lore.

The only one I like is my 2 ERLL and 6 MG build. The others... they're just not fun and they don't excel at much.

Not talking about the in-game. Talking about the forums.

People did whine about it a lot. Whether about its "CT BEING TOO BIG" or the "ST weapons mounts making the SIDE TORSOS TOO BIG", people did whine about it.

People, literally, whine almost about every single mech, if it comes out not being the better than everything else that existed prior.

I'm not some hardline meta-nut but I'd argue the Sad-oh Cat is actually pretty awful. It's armor is paper thin, it's not fast enough to compensate for the lack of armor, it's got a fairly wide profile with kinda meh hitboxes, and MASC is not exactly of huge merit on a mech that's already sorta fast and fairly agile.

It doesn't have the pod space to mount big punch weapons with sufficient heat sinks / ammo to be combat viable and still mount support weapons, nor does it have the hardpoints to use it's tonnage for lighter weaponry.

It tries to do everything at once, except it ends up being UTTERLY MEDIOCRE at everything. About the only thing on it that works well are the JJs and those are worth virtually nothing.

Again, believe me I'm not a meta tryhard. I run a 3xAC2 Centurion and **** like that just for the lulz of it. The meta flavor of the month is not top of my list as to if something's good or not.

I don't understand people who haven't played said mech yet know exactly how it performs and plays. Pilot a mile in its metal shoe's.

the reasons people do not like the shadow cat are:

it has enough fixed jumpjets that it can realy jump, so it disproves the "hoverjet" theory

it cannot have more than 4 energy hardpoints.

unless you like Machine Guns you have a rather restricted number of weapons

MASC does not make it as fast as it should (my only complaint)

it is not quite as versatile as the Stormcrow.

At 10 tons more, of course the TBR is going to tank more damage. The EBJ fits the perfect 65 Ton sweetspot though for CW (which you probably do not play so it matters little to you). TBR + 2 EBJ or HBR + ACH = 235 Ton killer dropdeck.

In terms of pub queue (solo or group), both my gauss TBR vs gauss EBJ perform ~same (average damage of 600, as well as the laser vomit TBR vs laser vomit EBJ (average damage of 650)
