How do I know which faction uses what mechs? I have a stalker and planning to buy timberwolf, are they on the same faction? which faction allows me to use them both? I tried searching the wiki but I cannot find any info about this. Is there any site that has all the info regarding faction/clans/mechs?

Stalker is an Inner Sphere 'mech used by the Star League Defense Force and all the major houses. Timber Wolf/ Mad Cat is a clan 'mech used mostly by Clan Wolf, but fielded by almost all the Clans.

You only have to worry about whether it's Inner Sphere or Clan. You can't mix them. But any clan mech can play with any clan mech. And same for the IS and IS.

Your right it isnt explained in game and the truth is no one really knows.

There is no point taking anything other than meta mechs in CW. Doing so reduces the possibility of victory considerably.

I suppose in the future when logistics are enabled things might different although I doubt it.


Both the Stalker and Timberwolf are general purpose designs widely fielded separately by the IS and Clans.

Ah so does that mean timber wolf and dire wolf is not only limited to clan wolf? Also how do I tell which faction uses IS mech and which uses Clan mechs?

Correct. Every clan can use any clan mech and all the IS factions can use all IS mechs. IS factions cannot use any clan mechs and no clan can use any IS mechs.

That being said, in a random public game (not a group game or CW) you're free to use any mech you want, clan or inner sphere.

note though that for mwo the only thing which matters it's if the mech belongs to inner sphere (all mechs on the upper table) or clans (the lower table), you cannot mix those in your community warfare drop decks
