After a while, one gets enough Battlemechs, and with our nigh-unto-total customization system, new chassis offer less and less opportunity. However, PGI must keep making 'mech packs, because that is their primary revenue stream.
But it really shouldn't be so.
Sell me something else. I'll ask for just two simple things, both of them cosmetic, and one refit.
Sell me COSMETIC GEOMETRY upgrade packs on a per-chassis basis. Example:
- The Battlemaster Upgrade Pack
Give me enough parts to change out my Battlemaster canopies to the bubble version. Swap shoulder panels to the new type. Add the long, rifle-style gun.
This isn't a new idea, it's been floating around for a long while - lots of players are interested in this, and it's a potential additional revenue stream. Players will pay for cosmetic upgrades to their owned 'mechs. Stay about 5$ US, and allow them to apply to every 'mech of that type, and they'll be popular.
Allow me to earn DECALS and purchase UPGRADED DECALS. Example:
- House Decals
- Unit Decals
- 'Nose Art' Decals
- Title Decals
Then offer to sell upgraded, full color (or shiny premium color) decals.
Keep the prices low; micro transaction level; .99 cents each would be ideal and promote impulse buys.
Reduce paint and camo prices to an IMPULSE BUY level.
Finally when Community Warfare gets out of Beta, take that chance to completely redo paint and camo pricing. You know it's way too high. Colors need to be 1-2$, camo should be either 1-2$ for a single 'mech (which you never, ever lose), a 5-10$ fee for every 'mech of that type, and 20$ to unlock that pattern on your account. This has been a problem for ages and needs to be addressed.
You're going to saturate the market on 'mech packs - even with the glorious Unseen. Give us something else to purchase!
