Well OP, this has been discussed a lot for cosmetic customization other than colors/patterns and many are all for things like Decals, custom geometries (mostly small ones that are aesthetic and don't create enough of a hitbox difference to make more work), and more.

Unfortunately you'll probably never see that specific geometry for a battlemaster in any battletech game again (since it was ripped off) however with the unseen re-vamp you may have a chance at seeing the new unseen designs finally implemented in this game.

I have been wondering if they would get more money if they lowered the price of cockpit items. It would take some research to find the line where they would find more people who would say "hell with it, I will buy another one of those" instead of saying "I already bought one of those, let me search my 20+ mechs for the one that had it installed and take it out to be reused"..

As for the custom geometry: if it involved changes to hit boxes, I can see they hesitating due to increased testing time for each mech that had an additional custom geometry pack. I would also argue that if custom geometry did include modifying hit boxes and it happened to make the mech's hit box more optimized - it could make it where you would need to pay MC to be more competitive in that mech.

This would be detractors of my message saying that hero mechs (or any good mech that requires MC to buy) already falls in the pay-to-win category.

Yes yes and yes. There's a reason damn near everything you get nowadays can be customized. Customization sells big time.
Even a couple other options that wouldn't require a ton of work: different aiming reticules unlocked through achievements, or purchased with MC, different color jump jets, etc. The list goes on

I really hate how decals were just quietly swept under the rug and never heard of again...

I'd buy more if the prices where right, but there're not. I'd love more mechbays, new camo, colours and cockpit items for my favourite Mechs but I'm reduced to waiting for events and freebies so no money for PGI. I'm good for mechs unless they put out my favorites for the past.

Yes, yes, yes and moar yes. Micro transactions are the way to go, custom geometry and decals at the right price are easy to sell. I'd say one shot camos are at a good spot right now. Camo unlocks are too expensive, specially if you consider it is available for just one chassis. Colours at least are global unlocks, but still expensive and out of the "micro" realm.

Can we have one shot mech paints? Say i want to paint my urbie in bright green. And i won't use that colour ever again. If i have to pay for the colour unlock, it is more probable that i never buy it.

I've purchased some mech packs (phoenix, resistance 1 and urbanmechs). But i'm done with packs, some of the mechs will be sub-par, to get the most value you have to buy the top tier and very early to get all the rewards, without screenshots, or size comparations. Actually, the only mech pack that didn't disapoint me in one or other way was the urbanmech. I wanted urbies and i got urbies.

urbie pack is the best there is. nothing can beat it. PGI knows it, and thats why it will remain for $ only for long time.

One-shot colors is a great idea. But I don't like the idea that you can 'lose' an item you paid $$ for if you change it. You should always have access to that color or pattern on that 'mech, unless of course you sell the 'mech. (Even then, would it be so hard for that purchase to remain as an 'unlock' in case you ever bought it back?)

Players like customization. Let them buy decals and different Atlas skulls and Mad Cat shoulders. I'd rather they worked with the camo patterns - after all, we're paying for these - but I'd even take them with a locked color. Especially if locked color bits were cheaper.

It'd be nice if Wave 3 didn't just stack on Wave 2's content.

It'd be great if IIC or Origins wasn't also stacking on wave 2 content.

Simply put PGI has determined that it's better to get a lot of money from a smaller pool of customers than a little money from a lot of customers.

Now, will they have to change this for the steam release? Possibly if they don't want a bunch of negative reviews.

However, pricing isn't really that far out of line for this kind of game. War thunder, Wolrd of ______, etc are all similarly priced.

Also... adding cosmetic bits to mechs is a lot of man hours between design and modeling. Not to mention hit box adjustment. So, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Not to mention that in this case there's copyright issues to consider as the original battlemaster design was a straight up copy of the Dougram bigfoot.

Speaking of the Dougram Bigfoot, PGI should totally give us clothing to put on our mechs!

Also hats, lots and lots of different silly hats.

I can see the grass skirt "hula girl" outfit for mechs being very popular.

Wants:

-- Alternate sound effects pack - examples: stompy pack, boom pack etc...
-- Alternate mech bay designs featuring different climates/worlds
-- Decals, lots of decals
-- Alternate cockpit designs where the equipment doesn't look like it was built in the 50s

Base vs Base respawn operations like MWLL. Buildings you can enter that take you to your mechlab, turrets, tanks Oh My. No bombers or fighters but VTOL ready.

Fully agree with the sentiment of the OP, though I only read the last part about paint and camo.

I've only ever bought new colours on sale, else I make do with the ones I've gotten in mechpacks.
And I want to buy more colors, it's just not happening unless on sale or prices are reduced significantly.

Same for camo.
