First off, your "roman" examples would be latin as well as your so called "latin" examples. Secondly, if you try to look smart, at least use the actual latin words! Nihilism is neither a latin word, nor does it translate to "nothing", it is a word for a philosophical view proposing the nullity and senselessness of the existence or a world view negating all morals, codes, ideals and norms.
And last but not least; "meta" is used absolutely correctly in the context of overarching (as in beyond) or post-game insights transported into tactical and mech-build advices.
Mechs and tactics following these are called "meta", which is in that case just an abbreviation and still absolutely correct in relation to the original definition of "meta".
Another question would be why some people are so absolutely livid about people using the meta. Maybe it helps them feel better when they lost again in their LRM10/AC5/ML Dragon.

And now he's trying to sound superior by spitting out ancient etymology and saying modern language is different from it.

9 paragraphs of text dont make you look smart, you copy pasted a bunch of stuff from wikipedia and the dictionary and STILL didn't get the definition of META as it exists in this context.
I second the words above....He just learned some latin in school and thinks he can speak it now. Same with all the psychology majors that have flunked out 4 times alread but still want to diagnose you ever time you open your mouth.
Not a one of those definition work here in the video game world. Meta is the game within in the game....not latin.

that's actually the exact opposite, we meta to find the BEST thing IN the game. IF we had no idea we would be running MG's and LBX's all day and wonder why we suck.
We strive to find the meta, granted there is always someone riding the coat tails of those doing the hard work but its the game within the game. You have to play the precious to play the latter, but some are better then other at both.

Unfortunately most just look at someone else's ideas/builds/strats and directly copies it and declares it god and king of the land.
