Or just people for short.
Anyway, I'm trying to set up the interface so that I can use my Xbox One controlled with MWO, but I'm having a lot of trouble. I can't get the weapons (or anything) to bind to the primary triggers and I can't get it to bind the left joystick's left/right movement to turn the legs.
Does anyone out there have any suggestions for how to get this to work for me?
I know that MWO typically has a lot more controls that a controller typically has buttons, but I'm wanting to at least get the core stuff working on the controller. (because I suck at keyboard/mouse controls)

You need at least 3 fire groups, a target key (to replace R) a button to bring up the map, see the kill screen movement buttons (can use the joysticks) override shutdown buttons (O) Eject for CW, there is 3 kinda of chat (All, Team and Lance) which are 3 seperate buttons, If you run a mech with MASC that will have to have it own button...
So just that small list here is 14 buttons....i dont think you will have a good time with a Xbox controller not to mention they dont have the adjustment and the sensitivity mouses have. Sure you might be able to get it there but thats a lot of work if you ask me for a controller that is still not as good as the old mouse and keyboard.
You may play however you wish, i dont mean to tell you what to do. But i can guarantee you will have a bad time and look like a paraplegic that got new limbs. The controllers are slow, clunky and not really meant to be played with this game.
Now if you wanna use it for the Pvt Lobby spectator mode that a whole different story!

lol!
I appreciate the honesty, and I know that I'm not going to be getting the full mech control on a controller, but the basics of move, look, jump, toggle vision, and 4 different fire controls is good enough for me. Thermal, Night Vision, Cockpit Light, and ECM can go on the D Pad. Target, Teammate Status, Cool Shot, and Jump can go on the X, Y, A, B buttons. Zoom can go on R analog press and teammate status can go on the L analog press. Start can take me to the escape menu and select can pull up the map.
All that really leaves is Override Shutdown and Startup/Shutdown, Chain Fire, Alpha Strike, Launch UAV, Artillery, Airstrike, and the chat/push to talk keys.
Well... that and toggle arm lock and free look.
For me, thats a setup I can work with. And if I need the other buttons, or to type in messages to my teammates, I can just stay close to the keyboard. (and I can disable push to talk if I want to use a headset)
And as far as getting faster control from a mouse than from a controller.... For me, it's more an issue of fine motor skills. I've been playing with a controller since before they had analog sticks. I'm just more accustomed to using a controller and can get more precise reactions out of a pair of analog pads than I can get with a mouse and keyboard.

I have an Xbox One controller. It's worked with other games and has plug-and-play drivers built into it. Simply plug the charge cord into the USB slot on your computer and the controller will upload the drivers to your computer.
My issue is that, when binding the keys/buttons/analog stick movements to the different functions, the MWO game will not register the left or right triggers as buttons and will not register the left/right movement of the left analog stick.

Here is what i did when i had elbow tendonitis.
Xbox controller in left hand, used analog for moving and D-pad for consumables/map/lock
Right hand was mouse and firing buttons.
Not ideal but you WILL want to use a mouse for aiming. Using an analog will suck.

Hmm, I remember having a similar problem when I tried to run a flight stick on MWO. I think (Been awhile can't remember) that you might have to try and run it as a Joystick, and log the buttons as one. I think they have a separate control scheme area in the key binds menu that allows for this? I'm not home right now but when I am I'll see if I can figure it out in-game and let you know.

I had been working with that, but when I triple-clicked the desired area to do the whole "press the button you want to bind this to", it refused to register pulling either trigger as a button activation.
Same as it refuses to recognize one of the analog sticks when I move it (it's not the controller or the drivers. It works fine with other games.).

Hmm, that beats me. Sorry man I'm not sure what that is then. Maybe try contacting support or starting a thread in peripherals?

I also want to point out that your first and only post here bumped a 3 year old thread.
So allow me to not only welcome you to Mechwarrior, but also the internet.
