I can't answer a question that has "should" in it for the simple reason we don't know yet the types of game mode and spawn mechanic that will be implemented in the end.

To be proper, your question should be more like "Pretending that joining a battle automatically involves a dropship, would you be in favor of hot-drops?"
...
The current poll assumes something we don't know yet and then forces us to pick an option that is either all white or all black. That's not a good poll.

Alright Negative Nancy ^_^

I didn't say I don't like the idea, just that I can't vote that way.

I would be in favor of hot-drops, if dropships are implemented (i.e. you start from a dropship every time you join a battle), but I don't think it should absolutely be implemented. Slight nuance, but there's one.

must remember rule number 35

35. Not allowed to sing “High Speed Dirt” by Megadeth during airborne operations. (“See the earth below/Soon to make a crater/Blue sky, black death, I’m off to meet my maker”)

OK poll has been updated to be more politically correct. Also new question should you have to get hot drop certified

by the way- by hot drops, so I'm not against the idea. However, I am also a believer that a relatively careful approach will save 'Mechs, pilots, and resources better utilized by said careful approach. If a mission calls for a hot drop, to confuse and weaken the enemy, to loosen them up and remove them from the map in the fastest, deadliest, most efficient way possible, I'm all for it.

preach on brother. there are some scearios in which hot drop is usefull and indeed provides tactical advantage.an organized star...er lance of coordinated organized killers properly armed
there are occasions where hotdrop = chaotic crossfire death box.i hate dropping in verses that lance i was just refering to, dont you ?
it should be an option

I think the game would be missing out on a lot of potential game play strategies, not to mention excitement and energy without Hot Drops.

Agreed. It's a recipe for disaster if it's not done properly.

I agree, I just want to make sure to be responsible with my resources.

I am all behind this idea. I think that everyone should have the option of meeting me in a Jagermech as the come into range of my radar and autocannons. Go ahead. Jump out of the Dropship and say ‘allo to my leetle freen’s. ^_^

I think this would also be the best way to handle respawns... that way you could avoid the spawn camping problem, or innitiate a respawn mid play. Such as 15/vs 15 game, games waits fro 5 people to die (on the same team) at least then hot drops them to a random tactical spot. Also instead of deaths counting for points, you could have a game were only a certain amounts of hot drops could be used. the team who runs outta hot drops first loses.

I would love to see a dropship touch down mid games and to see my 5 dead teamates( now as reinforcements ) come rushing out back on the field from outta the dropship, or jump from one from outta the sky.

EH, as long as it's not mandatory. A big part of the reward for me isn't so much the gun play as the thrill of outflanking my opponents. Hot dropping pretty much seems like it would end things rather quickly, you know? Just my two cents. Would be fun some times, just not all the time or even most of the time.

Hot drops should be controlled by the commander, so he can set a point on the map that give that as an option.

It's actually a valid concept 'should' Clans ever be playable. remember a Clan Commander can reinforce to the level of his opponents last losing bid wthout loss of honour and usually that's by means of a hot drop.

And if Zellbringen is breached and it's payback time it's going to rain Omnimechs and elementals, never a good thing for the silly IS company commander who answered a batchall with 'I am defending with everything I've got!'

There would need to be some chance of a failure, just as it is in the books.
Its not 100% that you will land in one piece.

Semyon,
That would only work if they actually enforce clan rules of engagement.
And for that to work they would have to have some intel to even know what they are going against in the field.

I'd say that getting dropped in on a Hot LZ should be listed as a form of achievement deal, but not require a certification to get dropped in. After all, how many times have units been dropped in with little to no real prep for the hell that was coming?
