Should groups be allowed to pool their weight allowance? I.e. You have 4 guys dropping but 1 person likes to only pilot light mechs. He could drop in 4 light mechs and the remaining tonnage gets spread amongst his peers. So in theory you could have 1 guy in 4 lights 1 in 4 meds, 4 heavies and 4 assaults. As long as the tonnage doesn't breach 960 tons the team can drop in all manner of combinations. Thoughts?

If anything, consumables should add to the total weight of your tonnage pool allowance.

UAVs, cool shots, artillery... they obviously weight something other than 40,000 CBills. It would create different drop decks and engagements if they were included in the tonnage calculations.

I like the idea. That could be one feature which further enhances group play - because let's be honest. PGIs matchmaker will never be able to fit teams together with variable weight that are not premade.

Difficult/impossible to implement with the current population. A 12-person group could theoretically allocate their tonnage if they all communicate well and can sort out the various desires among team members, but imagine a group of 12 pugs trying to do the same thing while waiting in queue:

Person #1: "Hey, Person #2, you took 4 Dire Wolves and now there's only 140 tons left for me and I like to run heavies - give up some weight, please."

Person #2, with 4 DWF's: "No."

Person #1: "....."

Now, add 10 more people to the mix with no one in charge and sort that out while the clock is ticking down. Total S***show.

If you've ever played in private lobby matches with team tonnage limits, you know that even for a single mech drop with players who play together on a regular basis and are all on comms together, it can take 5 - 10 minutes to sort that kind of thing out. For a 4 mech deck among total strangers who may or may not even be on comms, it makes my head want to asplode.

NO, its a horrible idea and will further advantage groups over solo players. Leave set tonnages for everyone and its more of an even playing ground.

this is pretty much already implemented with weight restrictions. Every one has a max cap, which is governed by drop ship class for a total weight, but i do think unused tonnage should carry over to other people in your respective lance. Not only that but the idea of a "minimum tonnage" is kind of stupid in my opinion As it really does not stop people from light rushing ( not that people do it much any more due to recent changes in CW map layout) and it should not stop a drop ship from taking flight or landing.

No, it would just enhance the units teampaly even more. while pugs are lost even more.

Weight will not matter once they add battle values in.

It is a good idea, but would be a pain to setup and be efficient.
